Mark has a great reputation which is well deserved. Am I right in that the item spaces the rear sprocket away from the wheel a bit?. I have a Wee so I'm just idly curious....
No bike at present.......

Yeps, way from the wheel, it then properly lines up the rear sprocket with the front one.

Surprised Suzuki didn't modify it if its that far out.

Is it on all 650 & 1000 ever made ?

All the 1000s, the 650s are fine.

If you look at the chain straight from behind the bike you will see the sprocket isn't in the middle of the chain. The spacer fixes this, it's one of the cheapest and easiest mods to do and you should be able to feel the difference when changing gears right away.

juvecu,  How dare you !  I was there for atleast twenty minutes balancing my wheel on my shin while at the same time trying to persuade the Mrs to push the axle bolt through from the side :fix:   But yes to be absolutely honest you are 100% spot on !  What an easy Mod. I would recommend this to all Vee riders. :occasion-balloons:

 Why didn't Suzuki do it?

Ps Mark can I have my discount now? :ty:

I have just fitted on & it does help.

Martin, its a extra disc/spacer behind the rear sprocket to space the sprocket out 2mm.

The bloke makes a hidden one also but you should still be able to see it if its fitted.

Someone also makes different spacers for on the axle, left one is made a bit thinner and the right one is made thicker.

I've got a 2011 DL650 and am experiencing cluncky gear changes, I've noticed that the chain isn't centered on the rear sprocket, the inside of the chain is right against the sprocket with a gap on the outside ,could this be the cause of the clunky gear changes , I've taken the bike in twice and the dealer has checked the chain and alignment and says everything is normal , but nothing was said about the chain being centered on the sprocket, from what I've read it only seems to have been a problem on the DL1000 any advice welcome

It's only a problem with the DL1000, the 650 chain is nicely in the centre unless something is screwed up. It's a bit difficult to tell with the eye if a chain isn't running straight, sometimes it can look that way, but not be so.

When you say clunky, what exactly do you mean?

New bike. Will take some time to free up.

Make sure good oil is put in at services & don't skip them.

changing gear up or down is clunky and selecting 1st is a case of letting the clutch out a little to get it into gear or rolling the bike forwards or backwards, or if the gear does go in straight away it's almost like the gears are crunching..... chain is definately not centered on rear sprocket and it seems the cluncky changes  have got worse since first service and the running in oil was changed, also is it normal for the top of the chain to sag , when you look along the chain from the rear there is quite a noticeable sag in the top of chain I've not had that on other bikes I've had or never had it so noticeable

It won't always change gear easily if it's not moving. Mine also does the thing where you sometimes have to let out the clutch a bit to get into first when standing still, never thought anything of it and still don't. Do you have the issues with the shifting when you are on the move? If the chain is not running centre then it needs sorting out. If the dealer you are taking it to is saying nothing is faulty, do you have the option of taking it elsewhere? Check the marks on the swingarm to make sure the wheel is aligned properly too.
