DOT is on the front 0912 (funny seeing as how it is only 0612 now) and 0311 on the back.

I think there are week numbers, not month numbers - So week 09 in 2012 and week 03 in 2011.

Just had Anakee 2 fitted to front n rear at 7400 as both trailwings worn badly. The front was about half worn but "chopped" either side of the centreline like the trackings out on a car tyre. The rear was so flat I could nearly stand it up without the stand. The ride home was a bit strange with round tyres it turned in so easy. I'm looking forward to feeling the extra  grip and getting more miles from them.

Just fitted Anakee 2 and had my first ride out on them today, noticed the diffence on the 1st bend. Brilliant, instantly confident, had to do an emergency brake in the wet absolutely perfect.

Well, despite my predictions of good mileage I have had to change my rear Anakee with just over 2,000 miles on it. DAMN YOU NAIL ! Picked up a blighter only half a mile from home (or at least that's when I felt the soft rear) and the bugger was right on the edge of the tread and poking back out the side wall. By the time a limped home (about 2 mph, both feet down) the tyre was completely flat and the hole had turned into a tear, bugger.
Just been out to scrub in the new Anakee and all is well again  :lala:

Just had the 7500 bike service done and an advisory was given about the tyres which are down to 2mm.These are the original Trailwings.  As good as the folks at Double take were ( highly recommended ) their quote for 2 new Anakees was £230 balanced and fitted. BLD at Southampton are fitting them next Wednesday for £195 balanced and fitted. BLD by the way do a bike transport service from and too anywhere in the UK ( not Scottish islands etc ) for £99+vat. My next door neighbour has just used them to bring his Kawasaki Voyager ( it's huge ) from Devon. Great service. Looking forward to trying out the new tyres having heard so much praise on here for them.

Oldie, if you are reading this - could it be a solution to repatriating Earthcore's bike? The tenners are already pledged.

Rear tyre indeed needed replaced: it could have been plugged but Cupar don't reccommend it - £117 duly handed over for a V rated Anakee.

Going by everyone & their dog raving about them, I should be wondering how the bike ever worked before now...

Reality has a habit of being different from aspirations but this time, at least so far, it's running along the same lines.

I'm just at the end of the 100 mile run in period and I'm pretty impressed so far. Grip feels reasonable but I've obviously yet to explore it further than sensible. I see a post above about them tending to continue to bank: I was aware a couple of times of having to catch it in the latter parts of corners as the bike felt like it wanted to keep going round. The Bridgestone had only done 2k and was still pretty well rounded so there isn't a great square old v's round new argument to it. I'm keeping my mind open until it's done a few more miles and it's been out to the edge.

In the meantime I decided to take a few measurements to see if there's anything significant: the profile of the Anakee looked a little flatter and the tape seems to confirm this. The sidewalls are around 5mm higher on the Ana and the total tread profile is 2mm less as well.

No wonder they quote 29% minimum more mileage out of them: the tread gauge is at least 50% deeper than the TW  (7.6 - 8.0mm compared to 4.8 - 5mm)

I had Maxxis Detour Presa tyres on and when the rear wore out I put an Anakee 2 on. I noticed the biggest improvement after the Maxxis on the front wore out and I changed it to an Anakee 2. Even so, the rear was noticeable by itself after the squared off Maxxis. The Anakee's strength really shows when it's cold and wet in the winter.

I've always been told to do about 100 miles before really pushing a tyre. I'm sure that's overkill, but your 20 mile trip (all vertical on the motorway) sounds a bit light to me, even on the M27's concrete surface.

Having almost done said 100 miles, I'd concur that you're a bit short.  I've been pushing it a bit further each 10 miles done and it's still got most of the moulding tails & flash everywhere apart from dead centre so I'm still erring on the cautious side.

Think I need to review my policy... I always work on a heat cycle to get the silicone off the tyres (release agent), does not normally take long and I would be to the edges of a new tyre within on ride....

I'm not that fastidious in running a tyre in, one or two rides and I'm on the edge.

Michelin state in http://www.michelinmotorcycle.com/pubs/fitment2012.pdf "After having installed new Tyres, a break-in period of several miles should be observed. Rapid acceleration and/or hard cornering should be avoided during this period.". I don't see how that equates to hundreds of miles.

The Continental road attack 2 tyres I have on now have 'traction skin' which means they are pretty much ready to go from fitting, and Continental say "Traction Skin, the revolutionary micro-roughness of the tread optimizes the mechanical adhesion and realises the safest, fastest running-in time in the market".

Maybe it was a big issue years ago, but I'm not so sure it is now.
Now on a Super Tenere having put 64k miles on a 2011 DL650

Only on the early Maxxis tyres did I have an issue, got a bit fruity out of a corner.  All other tyres have been fine after a few miles.
