haha nice 1, just out of Curiosity what day are you going up we are travelling up on Friday morning meeting at morrisons garage in morpeth 6am.

I lied horribly about being in Ullapool on the Saturday. We're travelling up on the Saturday and it will be Sunday we pass on through Ullapool. Last time I was up there the town was having some sort of festival and the road was closed for a bit, chaos but fun !

When you come down to Ballater, if you haven't done it before I'll guess you're going to come through Tomintoul? If so keep on for the Lecht ski area, through Cock Bridge, take the A939 (though there is an old military road that cuts the corner) and then after the seriously humped back bridge at Gairnsheil Lodge go right onto the B976 which comes out at Crathie, and then head east for Ballater. Seriously fun road with stunning views when the weather is good.

Yep, that's the way we're planning to go and they are great roads   :thumb: . I used to go out with a young lady years ago who worked at the Craigendarroch Hotel in Ballater so I used to know the area very well. The last time I was along the single track road just outside Ballater I spotted a Golden Eagle with a rabbit in it's talons flying overhead, very impresive.

I've now got approximately 2,000 miles on the Anakee's and I'm still very impressed. Excellent predictable grip in the wet and more grip than I can use in the dry - I'm slowly wearing the Guzzi's centrestand away ! Even better news is the wear rate, they're still keeping the original profile and they look good for at least another 2,000 miles, the front probably a lot more. The tyre eating monster has met it's match !

I have done 1500miles in the 6days after getting my mich anakees2. They are brilliant in the wet n cold in Scotland. My old bridgstones were worn out so this may not be a perfect comparison. But the tyres feel soft...on the motrway bumps where the Bridgestones felt like stones...

I've got about 4500 miles this past season riding DL650's with new Anakee2's.

All I can say is WOW! What a difference they make in how I ride the Strom! I am significantly more aggressive in the twisties and feel more grip on hard-packed dirt.

Big improvement over the OEM rubber...

My front battlewing needs replacing,
Guess I'm OK to replace with anakee 2, with battlewing rear?

Yep, I ran a Maxxis on the front with an Anakee 2 on the rear and had no trouble at all. Tread patterns are similar so I don't see Battlewings being an issue. You just wouldn't want to use a road tyre with a dual sport tyre, but two different DS tyres should be fine :thumb:

5k now on Anakee's and still got loads of meat on them and no flat spot I will never use any other tyre ever again that's how much I trust these tyres they grip and grip again and last and last. I've has brand new tyres in the past and thought wow at first bust as they wore in they got a bit out of shape and lost grip and I lost confidence in them these Anakee 2s just blummin brilliant even now after 5k and still going strong and gripping like a skid mark in your grundies  :thumb:

I had am Anakee fitted to the front yesterday replacing the well worn Tourance.  What an amazing difference, the Tourance had around 14000 miles on it, but the difference was amazing, enjoyed riding the bike again and it feels far happier in the bends up though Cheddar Gorge  :)

I forgot to add, that with the Anakee's the wobble which was always there about 40/45 mph has gone, beautifully smooth ride now  :)

Hi you island landlubbers.
I brought two Anakee 2's for 178 EUros (I don't know - about GBP155 ??). DOT is on the front 0912 (funny seeing as how it is only 0612 now) and 0311 on the back. Made in Spain. Look, smell and feel good.
Took the wheels in myself and had to pay 40 Euros for fitting, balancing, valves and throwing away old tyres. so 218 in total.
Just went for a short ride and it felt terrible - like the bike is going to go into an irrecoverable bend.
Both tyres look good and there are no loose bolts or anything.
Ideas?

What did you change the tyres from? They turn in much easier than (say) squared off deathwings :)

Given them a 100 miles or so, they wear in quite quickly.

Check the obvious first - tyre pressures and are they fitted the right way round ? Make sure the rotation arrow's are correct. As mjc506 says just give 'em time to bed in & for you to get used to the change. They are good tyre's but going from worn to new can make the bike feel odd.

I think its probably 'new tyre syndrome' you describe phaedrus (as mcj says), where the 'new' profile, nice sticky rubber is so different to the old tyre...Does it feel like you have to physically wrench it over just to make a bend? that's what I felt at first, but just have a good long ride on it, it'll feel easier and easier and more natural, and you'll soon realise, much better...grippier, more predictable than the old (I bet)

But check over as 2112 says first, so you're confident its fitted right etc (surprising how often tyre fitters can make mistakes).

I know that feeling :) The anakee's are a lot rounder than even new trailwings, and that coupled with going slower for the new tyres may be enough to feel strange.

Stick with them, you'll soon wonder why you didn't change sooner!

Yep had the same 'issue' when I changed from pilot road to anakees. Love the anakees now, another rear will be needed in a week or so. These fun roads are like a graiter on the rear lol
