Clutch Cable adjuster
« on: February 06, 2011, 12:18:24 »
Just a quick note, do you get a new cable adjuster with a new cable? the stupid adjuster screw has snapped, I don't need the cable, and I was wondering if anyone has a spare one lying around.

Thanks for any help,
Kev

Top or bottom or do you mean the screw in the twit bit at the bottom behind the cover?

No the top bit on the clutch lever itself.
The bike feel over about 6 months ago and I did not realise it was broken at the time, I got it out of the garage for a spring clean and check over and when I was checking the clutch adjustment found the screw to be snapped in half. It does still work, not sure for how long though. looks like flea bay or local garage will be my best bet I think.

I don't think a new cable will have the adjuster bolt and nut included, they have slots in them so that you can put a new cable through them.

It's better to call breakers than to hope they put their stuff up on their website or sites such as Ebay. They tend to have loads of stuff that's never listed because it's just oo much trouble for them to do all the listings. You can see if one of them has a bike that has a damaged clutch lever assembly that you can salvage the bits from (or even buy one that's working, shouldn't be much.) Don't just look for a DL650 one, I checked and the SV650 uses the same adjuster bits. SV650 parts are a lot easier to come by since there is a lot more of them on the roads (or off in this case) than there are DL650s.
