Which textile trousers for wife
« on: October 13, 2010, 20:19:44 »
I want to get my wife a pair of textile trousers. I don't really want to buy to expensive as she is not likely to ride pillion that much in the winter. In fact after doing 130 mph with her on the back when her visor blew off, I have only recently persuaded her back on to the bike. The problem is she is only 5ft 1in tall (size 12), and most trousers are to long in the leg, which also means the knee armour is below her knees. I took her into Hein Gerrick today, but they only do one standard lenght which is to long. Any reccomendations please.

I know your pain my wife is only 4'11 and it's been a nightmare getting stuff to fit her but we did find J&S textile trousers to fit and red route jeans do a short leg fit.

My wife is 5'2", we got her some nice Frank Thomas gear at George White's for a bargain. The range is called "Chloe" and it's completely wind and waterproof (better than my stuff!), but has some vents if you need them. You get the trousers in a short leg, it has knee armour in, removable thermal liners and you can get bip style trousers with the straps over the shoulders (what she has, she says it's very comfy because it doesn't tighten around the her waist when she sits.) It has a matching jacket that has armour at elbows, shoulders and back. At £60 for the legs and £79 for the jacket it's a bargain. I was hoping I could get the same stuff in a mens style, but I was out of luck.

Hope that helps  :thumb:

edit: if she doesn't like that particular style, there's plenty of other stuff for woman there too.

As a fellow with an 'umpa-lumpa' at home I've found Rev'it do short leg clothing and Akito are available in short leg sizes too.
It's pronounced 'twenty-one-twelve'

Having tried cheaper trousers, I found the cut was so bad it made climbing on the bike very difficult for her.
Bought a ladies suit made by IXS from J&S (they have branches over UK). Fits perfectly, she can climb on the bike OK and it doesn't make her look like a dyke like some bike clothing.

Ordered the Chloe textile jacket & bib type trousers for my wife from George Whites yesterday afternoon. I phoned them as there is not a branch in my area, plus I wanted advise on which sizes to order. They were very helpful, & the gear arrived today carriage paid. Have to say my wife & I are very pleased with the fit, quality & value for money.  Thanks Juvecu, a bargain as you said.

You're welcome, it's always nice if something ordered without trying it on first fits properly too  :thumb:
