That top picture is the one I use but the older model which is 26ltre, I can fit my Arai helmet in OK but not my Shoei. The middle pictured box would match with your panniers better. They do have a universal fitting plate inside the box which works fine but I bought the nicer looking M5 monolock plate (I don't know why).
While this is a light box which carrys little the Suzuki rack is
cheapo plastic so I'd fit some kind of metal support like the givi, Shad also make one which might be cheaper but you might have to drill holes to fit the universal plate.

Two Triumphs at Hartstone cafe, which was closed. My 765 Street Triple R and Steve's 1050 sprint. And a view of a bit of the view looking West'ish
Saturday 31st we set off for Donington. only one thunderstom with me sheltering under a motorway bridge only lasted 10 minutes and there was no rain for the rest of the trip. Travelodge at Donnington services was very good and fairly cheap for a two night stay. Sunday 1st August we went to Donington PArk for the classic races. I queued to buy Phil Read's latest book which he was signing but my friend Steve's brother ahead of me in the queue got the last one. Monday we set off for Temple Sowerby near Penrith and stayed in the Kings Arms for three nights. Tuesday we visited the Lakeland Motor Museum just south of Windamere. An RTA caused us to diverted up 'Fell Foot Brow' for a thrilling, (bloody scary) tour of the roads too small for a caravan, but they still try, until we joined the Kirkstone Pass on the 592 for a scenic trip back to Penrith.
Wednesday we went to Hexham via Penrith, Hartside Pass, Alston and Low Gate. Very nice lunch of fish and chips  in Tesco at Hexham.
The threatened rain did not fall on Thursday for the 327 mile run home. So apart from one brief downpour the weather was dry for us the whole time.  Overly large expensive cars, driven by complete twats, spoil almost all of the roads around 'popular areas'. Best to keep away from the lakes and places that attract wealthy yobbos. With wing mirrors brushing each side of a narrow lane these idiots seemed to think that if they kept 'pressing on' me and my bike would somehow vanish from the road.  Once I stood my ground on an steep uphill section and it took ten minutes of us staring each other out before she could put the Automatic Merc in reverse and go back 20 or so feet to a wider part  that would allow me through. Even so she was unable to drive back in a stright line and did untold damage to her paintwork as she fishtailed from hedge to hedge.

My favourite playground is around Alston and Hexham, no bugger up there with stunning scenery and roads. I have used a few unclassifieds up there, now identified as NCNs (national cycle network) they are rather interesting, again nice and empty.

I am so pleased you had a good week, how was the new Triumph?
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Walter Rohrl.

Sunday morning blatt bike and not a tourer. I used a magnetic Oxford tank bag and an Oxford 25 litre rollover rucksack for luggage.
Hard seat and revvy engine with no low down torque. A few 1st gear hairpin bends on the climb over Hartside pass. It doesn't wake up until 4000rpm.  The tank has about 15 litres of fuel space when the bike is on it's side stand and drinks a litre every 11 miles or so.  I ran it on super unleaded as this seemed to 'quieten' the vibes. That averaged out to £1.50 per litre. (£1.68 on the A1) For the 870 mile 5 day trip. You are right about the minor roads up there. I like the time and space to slow down and look at the scenery which cannot be safely done on most main ( green on the map)  'A' roads.

Beautiful part of the world there, have done the C2C twice on mountain bike but not been back since I returned to the motorised variety. Can imagine the green lanes over Alston quarry and behind Nenthead being a suitable challenge.
My legs also lacked low down torque by the top of Hartside 😬

A lovely evening just outside Culgaith in the Eden valley (5 minutes from home) with the Lake District in the background.
