Good morning folks. I'm the proud owner of a 2017 Vstrom 1000. Bought with 60k miles on and it's been great so far. Took it to Morocco and did about 4k miles. All excellent except the sprocket carrier bearing collapsed. I limped it home but some damage was caused to the carrier, wheel spacers, etc. I can replace all this myself but hopefully eBay or similar will be the answer for parts. Does anyone know what years sprocket carrier/wheel spacers will fit? There's one from a 2014 available - Is this a likely candidate? I've tried to find the Suzuki parts diagrams to compare part numbers but while that I can't find them. Hopefully someone can help. It'd be much appreciated 👍. Simon

This website has all the parts fiches and part numbers for 2018 and I don't believe there will be any mechanical differences from a 2017 bike.
If you click through to the specific part then it will also list all the other models that use the same part at the bottom of the page. I often use this method to cross source parts from higher volume or more recent models.

The 2014 on model will fit, wheels, swinging arm, suspension etc are all the same.  Apart from the plastics the other big difference is the wiring loom. So things like X-TRE's etc you must get for the 2017 model but wheel bearings, chain, sprockets etc are the same. My rear wheel bearings went at 25k and it never seen any Moroccan sand!

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I'll order the 2014 bits from eBay. Happy days. Cable tied mine on for 700 miles. Nothing to see here...😎

Are Suzuki still fitting single seal bearings? Am sure my 2012 ones went by c. 18,000 miles. Ended up changing them for double seal ones and they're still good at 66k.

Don’t buy bearings from Suzuki, they are expensive and only single sided sealed.Take your old bearings to a local specialist bearing supplier and ask them for double sealed bearings, they will be very cheap compared with the Suzuki dealer prices and will last much, much longer.

Yes mine where single sealed bearings on the rear wheel, went at about 25k miles, no power washing,  very little rain use. Fronts still OK at 46k but I'm going to change them next tyre swap later in the year

The OEM steering ball bearings may be replaced by tapered roller bearings no. 32006 (2 pcs.), if you wish to go this way.

Note: 2RS means 'two rubber seals'. It makes sense using only the types with both side seals, since they cost only a few cents more.

After lots of cleaning, eBay and stripping I'm now ready to put the thing back together with a new swingarm, sprocket carrier, etc etc. I see from looking at the parts fiche and the parts (namely the rear wheel spacers) they have different parts numbers and are different sizes. I didn't notice during disassembly so paid no attention. The parts diagram doesn't give sizes. Is anyone able to confirm which side the large and smaller wheel spacers go?
