Ticking sound

Why does the engine make a subtle ticking noise when I accelerate around 3000 rpm?

Oil level still good? How sure are you that the sound is from the engine?
Have you had a close inspection of the drive chain, looking for dry / frozen links or damaged o-rings?
Another place to perhaps look is beneath the counter sprocket. It is possible that some foreign object could be wedged in there, that may be responsible for the sound that you are hearing.

I would suggest that as it's new, the dealer will probably have another one in his showroom. Why don't you have a look and if he has then ask if you can listen to it running and compare the sound. Failing that your dealer should know if it sounds normal or not. Good luck with it and congratulations on having a new bike.  :thumb:

Do you have crash bars installed? If they are the type that join in the centre, check they are not vibrating.
