I've taken the plunge and ordered the aftermarket exhaust!
I've watched some YouTube videos and have a general idea of that's involved, but just wondering if any of you blokes that have done this job have any hints or tips before I start 🤯

Fairly easy. Make sure you have a socket extension long enough to get to the bolt at the rear V !

   I had a Delkevic on my L2 when I bought it,but I changed it for a standard as I am not a loud exhaust fan.Easiest way to change is:undo all of the support bracket bolts and leaves the nuts on a couple of threads.Undo both of the downpipe clamp bolts and take the bolts out.Remove the two front cylinder head to downpipe bolts and wiggle the pipe out.The rear downpipe can be left in place as the exhaust will slide down off it nearly vertically.The rest is quite self explanatory as the whole system is one piece,you just need a little patience removing it.You will need a new front pipe to head gasket,and I would use a little exhaust cement on the two joints and gasket as it makes them a little easier to slide back in.

@Gillie76,  I trust that you did explore some of these stock exhaust mods before ordering the Delkevic?

So I've got two issues now. The bracket for the OEM bash plate won't got back in place as the exhaust is preventing the bracket from going where it should 🙄 the left hand side of the bracket is held in by all sorts of faff relating to the side stand, so it's not an easy job to just remove the whole bracket to potentially fabricate a solution
Also, my O2 sensor was absolutely seized solid, so going to have to order a new one 🙄

Has anyone any experience with an O2 substitute connector and blanking plug. The exhaust came with a blanking plug already installed 🤷‍♂️

Can anyone enlighten me on this subject please ? I am also considering a Delkevic exhaust ; however there are several models or different sized cans for the Vstrom. I don't want to go barking round the town or indeed countryside; however a nice deep rumble I would consider to be firstly acceptable to touring and secondly non-adolescent ..I think the shorter the louder but (what) ... has anyone found to be more acceptable and sounding like a Motorcycle not .. well not like a standard Vstrom...?

Hi mate, I think you're after the same effect as me. Not a screaming loud exhaust, but one which compliments the lovely sound of the V twin.
The larger the muffle, the quieter it will be. They also come with a removable baffle, so you can adjust the sound to your liking.
I went with the stainless oval 350mm can, looks amazing on the bike imo

Not on a V-Strom but on my former Tiger 1200 and now on my 750 Transalp. The 350mm exhausts give a nice deep tone with a decent bark at high revs, you won't annoy anyone with the baffle in. The 400mm length exhausts have an even deeper tone and are even quieter but still louder than stock. Again, you won't annoy anyone with the baffle in. The 320mm Tri Oval can they do has a rather harsh, raspy sound and is a fair bit louder than the 350mm item. All subjective and all based on my opinion based on the information provided by a pair of fairly deaf ears...
