Rear shocks

Hello folks,

I've got a 14 plate V-Strom 1000 ABS and just noticed the rear shock has started leaking. I'm torn between getting it refurbished or buying an aftermarket shock. Budget is my main concern, so I'm also open to picking up a second-hand shock if anyone's got one for sale. Any advice on which route to take or specific shocks to consider would be greatly appreciated!

So I’ve see a good deal on a 2022 1050 Oem shock. I’ve read threads that suggest these are interchangeable with 2014 1000. Actually looks like 2014 onwards are interchangeable. Has anyone successfully changed out a 1000 for a 1050 shock?

I don't have the answer to your question. Perhaps have a look to see whether the part numbers are the same for the Veek and 1050's shock?  Also perhaps look on the various sites of aftermarket shocks, to determine if there is any information shared on which models their shocks are compatible with.

Thanks is bud, I took the plunge and picked up a 2022 stock shock with 5k on it.

I’ve researched it as best I can, different part numbers for the shock however every other component around it on the fiche has identical numbers, image also looks identical(pity it doesn’t give dimensions.)
