Position light flash.
« on: July 28, 2024, 11:57:37 »
It's on a Vstrom 650 > 2017.
The bike has been sitting a lot recently.......don't ask......, just changed the coolant and noticed whilst running up to temp that the led position light is flashing. Any thoughts other than a defective bulb.
I've had the bulb out and put it back in, no change.
Maybe low voltage?
Any help out there.
I'm thinking it's a coincidence but then again I don't believe in coincidences.

There's more. This is an LED bulb, I'm thinking it's not standard.
Anyone confirm.
The parts list shows regular bulb.
Ta me ducks.

Position Light?
Do you mean the  little "side light " in the headlamp.?
As std the only LED is in the tail on a gen 3.

Yes same thing.
But this bulb is definitely an LED.
I will be able to try a std bulb tomorrow.

LED's typically flash when they don't like the voltage they are being fed, but it could indicate that the lamp is failing.
The older I get, the better I was.

Good job you don't have a Kawasaki Z1000SX, if a LED in those lovely twin headlights go it is.......£1216 'cos you have to get the whole unit

Yes, you're not wrong.
Most new vehicles are exactly the same, plus you have to remove the front end on most cars to change them out.
It's nuts, proper nuts.
How many of us will expect a £1000.00 plus bill when a bulb goes out?
I would expect the aftermarket to offer a fix for some down the road, but that won't help getting the blummin things out.
What's up with 7 inch sealed beam units? Besides they didn't light anything up!
I can sort of see why someone put a LED in mine but......the dipped beam is on anyway.
Pffffffftttttt.
