Finally pulled the Pin
« on: July 12, 2024, 20:56:31 »
I've been chasing increasing numbers problems with my '12 Glee for the past 18 months or so and throwing more and more money at it as things just wear out - she's done just over 119,000 miles and is really beginning to show it now. The ABS light came on again about a fortnight ago (after a 3rd fix) so I threw my hands up and said "F*ck it !" and went out and bought a new Bike.  :lala:

[Another factor in deciding not to come on the July Strom-Bash - though I hope it went well :) ]

I decided to see vot the Chermans offerings ver like and went for one of the two bikes that put a silly grin on my face when I test rode them a few years ago. (The other being the 1260 Multistrada)

She's a 2017 BMW S1000XR SE - Dark(ish) metallic blue with 31,500 on the clock, all the toys and Dynamic Pro activated (Not that I'm ever going to use it!) and far too many horses for me at the moment.  I'm permanently in Rain mode (which restricts her to 100HP) because she scares the shit out of me! and I don't want to die just yet.

I've just managed my first trip home from work without stalling her once  :happydance:- so I'm counting that as a win  (I'm Sooooo used to feathering the clutch on the Glee on tight corners & roundabouts and just powering out when I'm at the exit of the corner - if I try that on the XR & let the revs drop just a teeny bit too low she just cuts out...  ### and I only notice because I can't hear the exhaust!  :haha: ) Steep learning curve here!

Anyway, I'm more than likely to rock up this August BH on the XR than the Glee - so the question is...

Since I have the Glee taxed & on the road etc - Am I still relegated to Traitors Corner?

I think you are probably welcome anywhere Ambergnat. Go on though, turn the power to super quick mode and have some real fun. No point having all that power and leaving half of it in the stable when you go out.  :thumb:

Oh, I fully intend to - but not just yet.  I've only had her for 2 days and I've got to unlearn 10 years of V-twin habits before I'm comfortable with that many horses... :old:

It's not so much the horsepower, just make sure the traction control & anti-wheelie are both on the max...
It's pronounced 'twenty-one-twelve'
