DL650 (2013) Brake Pads
« on: September 05, 2023, 16:15:04 »
Hi everyone

Looking to get some new pads front and rear, originals been in there for 10 years.

In the past I have always gone for EBC HH, any views or is there now better out there.

Not a racer and never experienced fade in me life. Just want good dependable pads that won’t eat the discs.

Cheers

Ian

I'm a fan of the EBC HH.

IMO EBC HH pads transformed my front brake. Still have organic on the rear but they may also get changed when I next have the rear apart.

Hi Ian,

I'm currently on my second set of Ferodo Platimum pads, don't think they're too hard on the discs, but I usually change them well before they're worn out. First brake pads I've managed to get the front ABS to kick into life with so they're good enough for me https://www.v-strom.co.uk/smf/Smileys/default/icon_eek. Think I got them from M&P
I tried EBC pads in the past, not the HH, but I was unimpressed with the finish on them as I had to file the orange paint out off the slider pin holes to get them to fit, didn't like how they felt compared to the Ferodo pads.

I have read that EBC HH pads rock and are almost fade-free, but they devour rotors.
I've used a variety of brake pad brands, from OEM pads, Ferodo, SBS, Galfer, Goldfren plus some less-known cheaper brand-name brake pads.
To me, it comes down to what is the type of riding that you do, plus whether you are looking at Sintered or Organic pads.   Organic & semi metallic pads are kinder to your rotors... but sintered give better performance... especially in "spirited" riding conditions.
Currently have SBS fitted on my K6 Wee and Goldfren on the K5.

To be honest now I have brembo carbon ceramic brake pads at the back and stopping power is same as ebc hh, but they are way more easy on disc. On EBC HH I was overheating the disc all the time and started rusting. Not happening on Brembo (disc changed). In the front I have Brembo sinthered, stopping power as good as EBC but they are more expensive unfortunately.
