Crash bars for new 1050
« on: August 06, 2023, 12:46:50 »
Hi
I'm getting a pre reg 2023 model1050(cast wheels).next week, looking for some crash bars, anyone fitted some and any recommendations on which ones.
As most are sourced from the EU it seems hard to establish how much they will finally cost buy the time you added vat , custom charges ect, they should also deduct local vat to export but they don't so you end up possibly paying twice .Looks like the only ones could be Givi ? Any tip or advice would be helpful.
Ps it anyone has any for sale PM me
 :ty:

Woody, I can't help thinking, a mention in the "Wanted" section of the site may get more attention reference used crash bars for sale. Good luck  :thumb:

Some of the tip over bars prevent plastic removal.
On my 650 the Givi work just fine and everything seems to be accessed OK.
I think I got mine from NI, like you say there don't seem to be too many local suppliers.

Just bought a lightly used 1050xt, my research so far for crash bars have resulted in genuine Suzuki accessory bar, or heed bars being best option, though have struggled to get first hand recommendations here
The .com owners forum seems a good source of info.

Take a look here……..

https://www.tradeinn.com/motardinn/en/protections/8008/f?products_search%5Bquery%5D=Suzuki%20vstrom%201050

I got my Hepco stuff from them. They’re a big company based in Spain. Easy to order, pay in £’s and my postage was £10.95. The price on the website is the price you pay. Delivery takes a little longer but you can track it ( they even sent me a photo of my box all labelled up), I saved over £100 and my purchases (I didn’t order crash bars though).

👍

I looked at these, they need ‘ modifying ‘ to fit.
Heed seem to be the bars of choice for easy fit

I have OEM bars on my V-Strom but fitted Heed to a BMW I owned, they were very easy to fit and they worked when I dropped it while playing on very hard dirt.  :auto-dirtbike:

I fitted the Puig ones. The suit the bike and my spots hang from the cross brace.  Reasonably priced too. Can't seem to upload a pic though....

I've done Heed bars on a couple of bikes of different makes and they were easy to fit and decent quality. The paint has started to flake on mine but they are 16 years old and it's almost certainly due to gravel fling. I'd have them again.

I have the Suzuki light bar type engine bars on my 1050 but have ended up removing the cross bar due to bad vibration problems.
After a few back and fourths with Suzuki through my dealer I was told that they should be OK run like this!
I would have liked the bars that are fitted to the XT or DE as these have rubber mounts but they can only be bought as parts costing hundreds. I had the same bars on my 1000 with no issues.

Thanks Deecat , I'll look into how they are mounted and see if I can do something to help reduce vibrations
