There have been a few posts on here about owners having problems when alarms have been removed!
Although you have said you have cut the splices & left the loom intact, it is possible that somewhere on the loom the alarm wiring may have required a jumper/loop in a connector to be removed that you haven't replaced?

If you have CHEC showing then the fuel pump will not prime.
There is a search button on the forum so if no luck with the above use it to look for more 'alarm removed' or 'CHEC on display' posts.
