OBDII for vstrom 1050
« on: July 13, 2023, 14:32:12 »
Hi... I have a bluetooth OBDII thingy for my car. As I understand, the red plug under the passenger seat is a OBD port. Can I get an adaptor, so that I can connect the OBDII for my car to my 1050?

Yes you can - I got one for my Honda... They are pretty standard. Just need to check the no. of pins

It is just a question about checking pins?

As I understand the pinout is different between 650 and 1050 even though it has the same no of pins

You'll need to get the correct adapter cable for your bike, checking the pin out should be as easy as checking a wiring diagram. I have one for my 650 (6 pin to OBD2).

Actually, if you look at the different types, the pinout between KTM and Suzuki are different even though they are both 6 pins

(apparently I cannot copy and paste pictures here, but you can view the pinout on most of the images on aliexpress).

Anyone knows the correct pinout for a vstrom 1050?

Looking at the wiring diagram, the 1050 has 2 extra pins compared to the 650.

I have one of those adapter cables, it has a full compliment of 6 pins (that I presume are wired to the OBD connector). It may just be worth trying as they are probably standardised and it just means that it exposes another/other networks (I believe CAN as it shows a twisted pair going to the mode connector) for the tool to talk to.

The 650 uses KWP from my understanding, there is no CAN on my bike.
