Screens Sorry
« on: March 23, 2023, 07:24:37 »
blokes my bike arrived with a scratched screen so the dealer said he would replace it with either a std screen or a aftermarket screen of my choice what's generally thought as the best screen out there and ill get them to get one of them

Thanks

Have you ridden the bike yet? The reason I ask (usually) the reason for changing the screen is because the OEM can cause buffeting, but not always. No point in changing it if the original works for you.
If you do get the buffeting, or just want to change it, then my personal choice is the Givi Airflow. However, that alone may not be the answer to buffeting, I also changed the mirrors & put them on extenders.

Another vote for the Givi.

I am a little over 6 foot tall and that will have a bearing on what screen works for you.
The older I get, the better I was.

My 2019 DL1000 came with the Givi Airflow screen which was fine but had anoyances like the headlight glow in the bottom of the screen in low light and being slightly higher so obscured more of the road when it was covered in rain.

I've now put the original screen on which has brought a little of buffeting but I prefer the aesthetics and the improved view.

However, I'm only 5'8" so not so high on the bike and most of my riding has been on sports bikes so I'm probably adjusted to a bit of wind turbulence.

Powerbronze Short Screen ... the best ... no turbulence ...

I have a 2022 1050 with a standard screen. I am 6' tall and have it on the lowest setting. I get no buffeting and can ride at 70mph with my visor half open. It looks good and if it were me, I would ask for an original replacement. Test ride with scratched screen first. My experience with V-Stroms (I'm on my 4th) is lower screen setting produces a smoother air flow than higher - but rider height may play a part as mentioned above.

If the OEM screen works, great, but if not, or not quite right, there's a few cheap mods you can try before you spend your hard earned on a new screen.
First, try some spacers behind the screen to push it away from the fairing a little. You can do four the same size (15 or 20mm) or two longer at the top or vice versa. You will need some longer bolts.

Or/and try the Aprilia style mirrors.

Another vote for the Givi. Had them on three bikes and they are the only ones that have worked for me. 5’10”

THanks fellas I've got some spacers also I've got one of the adjustable lips, hopefully the weather will be better so I can try the bike tomorrow, ill take the lip with me and try to fit it when I pull over if the std screen does not do the job

Hi Landsurfer74
That Powerbronze short screen you've got, is it their sport one?  I was considering that one.

Went out on it on Tuesday and from any speed from 0-100 the screen seems fine so asked the dealer for a new standard one, Ill try the lip on the lower settings just in case it makes it better but if not I'm quite happy as is
