Snatchy throttle
« on: March 17, 2023, 07:37:44 »
There's the idea of using the rear brake to blend when lifting off and mention of nyogel under the throttle body/bars to 'grip' and slow down the action.

Anything better?

Caveat... bike has been stood for six months so possibly it's old fuel and just needs a couple of full tanks of premium 99?

Not sure what you mean. Do you mean the twist-grip sticks a bit, making the action snatchy?

I had this. There was a recent thread about it. I will try and find it.

I too had a sticky throttle, not only did I have some crap under the throttle tube, but the linkage was also a bit grimey (including a cable end seized in the TB). It would get worse the hotter the bike got.

A liberal application of WD40 to all the moving parts, plus one-seizing the cable end, made it butter smooth, and it's really really obvious that it's made a difference. You can also check your throttle free play and cable tension is correct, too tight and it can feel sticky.

@ Pluto, which model do you have? Your profie shows an SV650.

Don't the newer models V-Strom come out with a fast idle assist feature? I wonder how much influence the fast idle assist has on throttle snatch?
I recall reading that the throttle snatch was also possibly due to too much slack in throttle cable adjustment and / or the throttle grip itself, https://www.v-strom.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=40246.0
