Eurolites beam deflector
« on: March 13, 2023, 07:23:35 »
Hello. Travelling to Spain and Portugal next month. I assume I would need beam deflector. Anyone fitted Eurolites in the past and have some pictures how it is need to be installed??

What is the beam pattern on your KLV?  I've not seen one before.  If the beam sort of kicks up toward the kerb side, like this \__ then you'll require a deflector.  If you have a flat beam, more like this ___ then you don't need one.

Just fit these before you leave and simply peel them off when you get back home.
Fitting is easy and instructions are on the pack.

I have fitted them to cars and bikes many times, it’s simple when you have them in your hand.Just make sure the headlight is wiped clean when you stick them on.I usually preorder and fit them the day before I leave,If you have a single headlight bike you can get 2 holidays out of 1 pack.

So which part of the headlight they need to be fitted?? It is a mirror so I guess it will be bottom left when you look from the front??

Yes that's correct,it obscures the dipped beam that would shine into oncoming drivers eyes when you are driving on the right.Don’t worry about it,just follow the simple instructions on the right.

"follow the simple instructions on the right." In Europe they ride on the wrong side of the road when compared to UK.  :stirpot:

Firstly are you riding at night, because you're not going to blind anybody in the day and there aren't too many tunnels there either.
I don't think the local scuffers will be in the least bit interested in your headlight.
If you feel you have to do it, just put it in the garage, turn the garage lights off and tape it off with good sticky insulating tape, but I don't think I would bother if you're daytime riding.

Agreed , never did anything to my old Vee headlights and didn't have any issues riding abroad and as said, a normal piece of insulating tape would do the trick.

Maybe I was lucky ..

For daytime travel I've never bothered on the bike or the car (The car has headlamp wipers which just peeled the bloody things off when I did use them once anyway).
During covid I did drive overnight to the Alps without deflectors and I got flashed by every truck in France, I did feel a bit guilty and would now definitely sort the lights for night time driving (my bad, sozzer, one more thing for French truckers to complain about).

I am not planning to ride at night, but I may have to. I think I will just take the stickers with me and install them only when I really deem them necessary.

I bought a BMW R100GS some years ago. It had been registered first in Germany and then Ireland. When I took it for it's import MOT test I was told the headlight was European and dipped the wrong way. I borrowed a roll of masking tape off a bench, applied it to the headlight and then the bike passed. I took it off again when I rode away and only put it back on for MOT's. It never seemed to dazzle anybody and to me, it looked to dip strait down.  :thumb:
