Engine paint.
« on: March 08, 2023, 04:50:50 »
I might have posted this before but can not find the post. Does anyone have the paint code/supplier for the silver engine paint on a 2016 XT?

I'm sorry, I don't but I'm sure someone will be along who can tell you soon. I had a BMW many years ago and the dealer told me that they use wheel paint from a rattle can when tarting up  their bikes?  :icon_no:

I think others have used steel wheel rattle cans to reasonable effect, but I found the best match my local auto paint place found for the cases on my '12 Glee was Chrysler PSS-1 Silverstone: you couldn't tell where I'd blended the colour on the clutch cover after my boot wore through.

So after doing a bit of searching on the web I found a post from a member on this site from a while back saying that he had bought some from a company called RS Motorbike Paint. You put in your make, model, year and it came up with (38582, Metallic Mystic Silver), 400ml aerosol for £19. Down side is they charge £10 postage so I might give some steel wheel stuff a go and see what it looks like.

So after talking to RS paint it turns out that 38582 Metallic Mystic Silver is the body colour not the engine. They said that Suzuki do not list a paint code for the engine. I had the same reply from Fowlers & Robinsons. The only supplier I could find for Chrysler PSS-1 Silverstone on ebay was in Germany and they only supply a touch up pot. I have done a test spray with some wheel silver and it is miles off. RS have said that they can make some paint to match if I post them a bit of my engine so that looks like a job for this winter.

I bought the Chrysler PSS-1 Silverstone touch up kit from eBay, as suggested by Mr Nick. I only have a small area to touch up so will give it a go in the next few days and will post photos of before and after. I’m sure it will be close, in which case ordering a larger quantity from a paint shop in the UK would then be straightforward if needs be.

HI Russ, a few years ago when I had a Bandit 650, I needed some engine paint so I went to the Suzuki garage where I had purchased the bike, even having ordered the "correct" touch up colour when it was applied it was miles out. Might be worth trying the motor factors in town, take the bike with you. Pete

You may get lucky with RS bike paints.

When I had my TTr250, I looked for the various paints for the bike, and they had the frame and engine paints - I didn't get around to a full rebuild, and the frame paint was quite pricey due to the metallic paint.

Well, I’m not the best at touching in paint but with a little more effort I think this paint will be perfect! It needs rubbing down and applying a few more times… but it’s a brilliant colour match, would highly recommend to anyone looking for an easy touch up.

Hi graingerblaze, do you have a link to the ebay ad by any chance?
