Lithium Battery for a 650 L2>
« on: February 17, 2023, 19:21:01 »
Hello

My Motobatt battery is showing signs of coming to the end of its life (6 years) and I am asking if anyone has used a lightweight lithium battery in their 650, and has anyone found problems in either installation or in use?

All pros and cons gratefully received.

Cheers

The only pro is slightly less weight, but on a bike over 200kg it's not going to make that much difference.

The con is any smart charger you have will likely need to be replaced with one that is safe for Lithium batteries and will be 2-3 times the price of a normal optimate 3 or 4.

And the sodding price of the battery in the first place.

I thought about this some time ago but then thought (similar to mr-diver) the motobatt will last at least 6 years, yours did and cost less than £70. If you want less weight on your bike change something that will make a bigger difference or if you are a little plump, go on a diet.

I concluded that I would fit a motobatt again and will next time too. Anyway, enjoy your bike and stay safe.  :)

Thanks for your replies, and I am now on a diet and a new Matobatt is on its way to me.
Conumdrum solved.
