But, if you hadn't seen in the news recently, the size of a "normal" well, "average" penis has gone up lately.

Which means I'm no longer average and means I need to put a bigger beak on my strom...

Getting back on topic (and away from penises)...
I went for a ride out with Richy and the Wildbad Family today. Great route around all the best spots in the Peak District, finishing up at the Cow Shed cafe at Miller's Dale. 24 bikes in convoy - no one got lost and no one fell off -- result!

Just watched his latest episode, he's currently got a 1050 DE on long term loan from Suzuki, they've just offered him to keep it for another 12 months and he's taken them up on it. He really waxes lyrical about it. He's certainly much a Africa twin man but it sounds like he's considering swapping the one he recently bought new for the Strom.

I am not a YouTube bike tester but if I was and Suzuki offered me a free bike to use for 12 months. I take em up on it.

It's more about how much he likes the big Suzi and is choosing to ride it instead of the bike he bought new with his own money that surprised me.

I'd also be riding someone else's bike for free rather than wearing out my own bike... I'd also be enjoying the most of it  :auto-dirtbike: :auto-dirtbike: :auto-dirtbike:

Luckily  for me I can ignore hard or soft sells and it seemed to me he was genuinely saying he thought the Vstrom was an outstanding bike and a bit underrated.

Even he says it's "underrated". That is such a back handed compliment that it is 50% abuse. Underrated by who I wonder? If not the owners, so  then  who.  Errr... um... Well then, I've never seen a review that states they are not worth the price, unreliable, unrideable or not fit for purpose. So why would RV say they are underrated? maybe he too relies on the opinions of others before formulating his opinion.  Yes I am a cynic, and I wouldn't trust a journalists word about anything, and, of course, all Youtubers are, in their own way, Jounalists. They feed off the opinions of others and the handouts from their patrons. They regurgitate manufacturers publicity blurb as if it is their honest opinon and promote the expensive exotica  as the most desirable to which we all should aspire. Meanwhile one of the best selling bikes is the 350 Royal Enfield. The Journos didn't see that one coming did they?

I guess he's says underrated because a lot of people buying hig adventure style bikes tend to go GS or Africa Twin, probably cos the journalists bang on about them and the Vstrom is a bit overlooked.
Be interested to see the annual sales figures for each of that class.

Journos don't have to worry about servicing/repair costs and this can give a scewed view of ownership.
If your GS/Panigale/whatever had a problem and a tech took it away and fixed it for free you get a different perspective.
And your You tube channel is not going anywhere if manufacturers won't give you a bike 'cos you slated the last one.
Understandable really.
Truly independent journalism is rare these days.

Last month I read a review of the new BMW 1300 GS in a Bike mag. It was new out of the showroom but broke down needing recovery to the dealer. He gave it 10 out of 10 in his review, I would have given in a 0 but with potential to get better, maybe.

If I had the legs and hips I'd have another V-strom like a shot. For me it has to be V so the low seat of the Guzzi gives me the two wheel transport I need.

Slightly off track but a couple of years ago Triumph launched the Tiger 660 Sport.

I am an old school Triumph fan boi so I had to have a look and a ride.

MCN made it one of their bikes of the year, everyone said it was nearly perfect... everyone except a bloke in South Africa who is well over 6' tall, he said it was a sports bike with a tall fairing. I agreed.

On my test ride, I had not even left the car park before I knew the 660 was never going to replace my VStrom. An hour and a half of riding over the Mendips reinforced that feeling. I didn't like the bike at all... and yet, MCN (and hence everyone else) said it was damn near perfect.
The older I get, the better I was.

On the subject of Dickie Vegas and all of the othe vloggers, it'll be interesting to see what effect HMRC's planned investigations in to the earnings of vloggers has on their online presence.
Take Dicki Vegas for instance, he organises his Picos tours (5 this year), Wildbad merchandise, Wildbad Weekender, is a long term manufacturer supplied bike a benefit in kind in personal tax terms?
Yet there's no company registration or VAT number and you're not telling me that just his Wildbad Weekender event doesn't get him near or over the VAT turnover threshold.

I have no particular axe to grind with RV or DV,as I said I quite like RVs vids but see them as an advert for his tours rather than a review of the bikes.
Fair enough.
As you say Pete O Tube I hope he has all his ducks in a row financially or he (and others) could have problems .
He has an Africa Twin,is that a company bike?.What would he own if he had get one for personal use with the associated (non tax write off) bills ?

I would be interested in what bikes  EX  Journos/professional riders have when they have to pay for them.

Simon Hargreaves has a VFR750/800?(can't remember which) , Mark Fitzgerald a SV650 (not used),CRF250(same) and a MV Augusta Turissmo(laughingly unreliable,by his own account)
But they are current Journos with access to free bikes they have use of ,what would they have when that stops?

The Africa twin his is own bike bike bought with his own money I believe. He also owns a VFR800.
Yeah I think you're right about his vids being an advert for his tours, he doesn't do so many review videos as the other main youtubers.
Tbf most of the ones I watch such as TMF and Teapotone will say if there's something they don't like about a bike but obviously don't go full on rant as they wouldn't get any bikes from the manufacturers, it's just about reading between the lines and sifting out the bits that's apply to the viewer.
Review videos are wasted on me anyway as I only buy a bike about every 15 years :)

Good post Mr F. It must be very difficult to play in a band all in different locations.
