Just seen this on the BBC, how long before other road races such as the TT get canned?

Sad news indeed. The racing scene is a big part of my motorcycling here, never miss a road race (  even missed my brothers wedding as he had it the same day as the Mid-Antrim 150! fool)
The sport has been in decline this last few years with fewer entries and less top riders turning up at the smaller road races so less crowds which leads to less money.
Most up and coming riders now prefer to go the BSB route as well which isn't helping but I understand why.
Hopefully something can be sorted if not for this year then next but I'm fearful for its future.

My motorcycling gang have been to the NW200. It was cancelled because it was wet on one part of the track and dry on the other bits. They said the bike tyres could not cope with those conditions. Some of our gang had travelled from Holland.

We went to Tandragee. It was so cold with wind and rain that we had to leave and warm up in a pub.
But the races went ahead and all credit to them for braving the conditions.

There might be some hope that the NW200 can go ahead, their trying every possibility I hear, we'll see in the coming weeks.
I find it strange that the circuit racing and trails are also off, no great numbers of spectators go to either here now but motocross is not affected.
Guess I'll have to travel to the Isle of Man for my road racing fix, and get well and truly ripped off!

Such a shame, went last year and it was great. N Ireland is a beautiful place to ride, even when it's chucking it down.
I guess this is the future, sooner or later we'll all have to walk around with high vis jackets on, eye and ear protection, safety boots and gloves , and have to do a risk assessment before we pop out for a loaf of bread.
Fed up with anti motorcycle legislation ??.
Then get off your backside and join the Motorcycle Action Group. Protect your right to ride.

..... do a risk assessment before we pop out for a loaf of bread.
But as ever those with plenty of dough won't need to bother  :icon_wink:

It’s litigation culture like in the US.Thousands of people working to stop everything and many more thousands chasing the ambulances around if anything goes wrong.
The good news is that the Irish are very industrious and inventive. There will be a way round.👍👍

The blame culture is f*****g up most things in life, including the work environment for many. One of the main reasons I decided to retire early was because all the fun of my job had been sucked out by the pointless form filling and box ticking b*****ks!
Every organised event these days, no matter how small, will probably succumb to it.
The organised New Year swim at Sheringham was cancelled this year because of the need for Public Liability insurance etc. It didn’t stop people taking the dip of course, it just meant it couldn’t be an official event.

This may be of interest, a talk by Dr John Hinds, a travelling doctor on road race events. I thought the comment "when you arrive on scene, count the bikes and count the riders" a good idea I'd never thought of before.
