K5 650 Graphic changes
« on: November 18, 2022, 02:04:45 »
Playing with photoshop... Thinking of changing the graphics and playing with colours. I've decided since I'm keeping the bike forever, I might as well personalise a little, perhaps modernise the looks given that the bike is 18 years old. The original paint is perfect, so I only need to play with vinyl's rather than anything permanent.  :)

Dare I say it looks a little Yamaha-ish?
And the non-parralel aspect of the strips grates on my eye. (sorry)

No that’s fair  :)

I took the stripe idea from the 1050, but where that is parallel to the floor these follow the lines in the fairing. Mmm… more thought required

I have to agree with Rusty it does look a bit Yamaha-ish but I prefer the white to the yellow but keep trying interested in what you come up with  :thumb:

Agree white looks better than yellow, and if you like it go for it  :thumb:

Also don't worry about it looking like a Yamaha, Suzuki is now copying BMW designs so there's precedent for making the Strom look like another brand...  :stirpot:

Of the two - white  - as it matches the other writing on the bike and the wheel tapes.
That said your bike always looks superb and any additional decals, unless used to cover a blemish, will detract from the spendiferousness of the 'classic V-Strom'  look.

Like when a beautiful girl puts on too much make-up.

A few more idea's... not sure if I go for a change or just leave as original. I fancy a change, but as I have done for the last 5 years I can just leave as is

Middle pic looks very trick, makes it look more modern.
Don't forget to put a beak on it too.
We all need a beak.........oh yes we do.

Top pic. Makes the front end look less bulky. To my mind anyway.

Middle and bottom look good. Go for it, you know those stripes will make it go faster...  :auto-dirtbike:

As for the beak, Brockett says putting graphics on is like a beautiful girl wearing too much make-up, putting a beak on it is like a girl getting lip-filler that goes wrong...

If you put a beak on that beautiful V-Strom, I am likely to come to your house and beat you with it  :dl_smiley_banghead:

By the way, leave the graphics original  :smirk:

No beaks will be added to this bike… ever!

Graphics we shall see, original are fine but I may change. I have ordered some various types which I will offer up before I do anything, all in white as is the general consensus. If original graphics remain, then I will have to paint a wall in the garage dark blue to make use of all the vinyls

NOT the bottom one. The lines do not match any of the panel lines especially that rounded edge.
(Damn it I didn't know I had an opinion on such things - is it possible to catch OCD?)

All it needs is a silver frame.  :stirpot:
