Lambda sensor
« on: November 16, 2022, 04:17:44 »
My bike is a DL650 AL2 2012 with only 5000 miles which I have owned for 6 months . At around 5000rpm in 6th gear there is a flat spot in the power. This is most noticible on dual carriageways and motorways when trying to maintain a steady 60 to 70 mph. I have been told that this may be due to the Lambda sensor leaning out the fueling excessively. I am getting 67mpg which compares to my previous bikes (VFR800) 35_40mpg.
Would a Lambda sensor eliminate kit resolve this or could there be another issue?

FD, others will have more experience than I but I'm wondering if yours is a CA bike the emissions will be set leaner than normal?
I know it's the norm for CA vehicles to have tighter emissions. So firstly is this a CA bike?
I also note it is low mileage and it's probably running E10 gas. This will be a recipe for a fuel system that needs a good clean, I would suggest Seafoam on your side of the pond. It'll be readily available, mix as per the instructions for two or three tanks of fuel and see if it cures the fault. The torque should be fairly linear from what the charts show.
My concern if you did go down the route you are thinking is will it pass your CA yearly inspection? I can imagine they will be strict on emissions.
Good luck.

Doesn't interfering with the emissions system carry the death penalty in Cali?

It's worse than that, you are sentenced to a weekend of listening to Donald Trump.
