Getting the right manuals
« on: November 14, 2022, 12:09:45 »
Hi,

A couple of weeks ago I bought a V-strom, it seems to be model year 2008.
Its yellow has no ABS and has been imported to Sweden 6 years ago.
The turn signals are clear (2009), but perhaps they were replaced..?
I'm trying to figure out what manuals are the most correct. Is it the K4?
VIN JS1VP54A082XXXXXX

Manual from 2004 to 2012 is first gen so will be OK.

I suspect that your K8 Wee was manufactured in the last third of 2008, as an upgrade for the 2009 market, hence the clear indicator lenses.   For the year in which the indicator lens changed see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki_V-Strom_650
The date of manufacture should be on the manufacturers label that is mounted on the side of frame on your bike.  Have a look at https://www.vstrom.info/Smf/index.php/topic,16245.0.html for using the VIN  to help identify the year of manufacture.
As far as the manual the K9 manuals should be the same as your K8.  Have a look for a digital version of the manual under under https://www.v-strom.co.uk/downloads.htm   The earlier models (K4 - K7) Wee had a lower stator wattage output to the K8 - L1 models. And if you are not familiar with the K numbers that I have being using, have a look at https://www.vstrom.info/Smf/index.php/topic,11834.0.html
