@ Kwackboy may have this wrong but don’t you work or own a dealership in London (Suzuki dealership?), I’m curious how much advanced warning you’re  given about new models etc ahead of the hoi pollie and the requirement to keep one’s trap closed - is that how it works?

I've often wondered whether dealers get advance notice of new models. My local Honda dealer says no, definitely not, but he's learnt to decode subtle hints from Honda....a lot of discounted CRF250s were 'made available' to dealers about 6 months before the 300L/Rally came out.

True....
I bought a brand new 2015 Honda CB500F, very cheap, 4k on the road just before the updated model came out.

They haven't ditched the XT, just the name.  The bike that Suzuki has dropped is the standard 1050.  The base model now has the adjustable screen and seat etc of the XT; the more advanced IMU with all the electrical gubbins with the addition of a Quickshift gear box.  I guess the base will be more expensive than the old XT and the DE even more £.  Why you need a 21" (tubed....) front wheel on a V Strom is beyond me....

I wondered if the front was tubed, is that definitely the case.

Cheers, that's me not getting a new XT  then, I hate the thought of being stranded with tubed tyres especially with my puncture luck, nails, screws and everything else love my tyres. Plus 880mm seat height Hmmm, just got the low seat for my 2020 XT at 850mm. :smirk:

Suzuki are obviously going for the off road adventure market and tubeless wheels off road are useless.

The base model, old XT will come with cast wheels, so tubeless 👍

I’ve just seen an article on the internet quoting a price in Europe of €15k for the base model and more for the DE.
I checked on a currency converter and that’s circa £13k for the base model with the outgoing one’s R.I.P. was £10k and I just bought mine in the clearance sale for £9k.
The new bike does seem to have all of the XT extras, apart from the lower engine bars and sump plate, and a few new bits, but that’s a big jump in price!

Not sure you’re comparing apples with apples - the new incoming base model is like an improved current XT. Discounting aside the price (assuming you’re  correct at 13k) is comparable it now gets a TFT / Quick shifter / with some other parts upgraded - although I can’t see it staying that low for long (inflation).

I think a black (with gold wheels) 2023 standard 1050 with a quick shifter 😎 could be my next bike as long as the price is right 🤔👍

The price is on the UK Suzuki website, £12999. plus on the road charges, so about £13150.
I'd wait a year, I think that's too expensive, there'll be discounts next winter. But if you must have the latest they happily take your money!
