well its all gone Pete Tong
« on: September 04, 2022, 19:10:25 »
Had a little message today stating our company has gone bust and gone into liquidation from today so we are all out of work  :icon_no:
luckily enough I already told him I was leaving as he mucked about with my wages for months. Also found out on Thursday that he sent me out fully loaded with a trailer with defective brakes. I got sent a video yesterday of the boss filling up the trucks with Red Diesel  :icon_no:, to me that was the last straw so I called a mate at VOSA who contacted HMRC and they were arranging a raid on Monday.

I already have a job to start tomorrow so I am lucky but the other drivers are unhappy to say the least. We have known for a few weeks that something was going on when our fuel cards were refused and he has been shredding documents for the past week but this was a bolt out of the blue.
he will probably start up again but I'm already on that  :lala:

still onwards and upwards at least with my driving qualifications I can go anywhere as there is a shortage.

You sound well out of it mate.
As you say you have all your tickets, you can load out of most places down there and company's are always looking for good people. Take your time, the right job is out there.

Your ex boss can't have been that bright; employing an ex cop then acting like that right under your nose.
All the best.

Glad you are moving on .......... there are plenty of jobs for experienced drivers and yes illegal operators should be shut down. A shame for you're out of work colleagues. Just got my C+E licence renewed ...... took DVLA 5 months  :angry-banghead: I'm pretending to be retired, but still doing some shifts through an agency.

Thanks Peeps, all sorted with my new job and revenge is a dish best served cold.

Found out today he has already started another business registered 2 weeks ago.

There will be plenty more doing just the same I'm sure with the added business costs. A little scary .

I wonder how long before he has a "meeting" with the Traffic Commissioner.

Good luck with the new job, at the moment there is plenty of driving jobs out there but the pay is crap with some firms, I should know after retiring after 30 odd years pounding the motoways.

Sell the London mansion, move up here, pocket the difference, take TLPower's old job, ride Yorkshire at weekends. Sorted.

Then he would have to learn the language, cope with having gravy on everything and perhaps even having to suffer mushy peas  :-x

It was a seamless integration, it must be down to my >50% Celt bloodline.

Ah, Celt. I though you said there were more than a few clots in your bloodline.

Good luck with the new job.

I used to work for a similar boss, he always had a second company running in the background so would run up big debts to suppliers, sell the stock to his backup company for a pittance then fold the current company, I got into work one morning and was told I was finishing that afternoon, ended up £3k out of pocket  :icon_no:

Two depots up here with driver vacancies, Doncaster and Barnsley. They prefer to recruit ex service personnel, though ADR tanker work it is vastly different to being an artic monkey.

No nights and you have to leave your cab more than twice a shift.

Property prices are very reasonable, the countryside is rather pleasant, downside I live here.

*Update*.... Well I lasted this new job for 4 days, this bloke I was working for was a bigger crook than my last one. I asked him all the questions at the interview, 9 hour days - (wasn't), no nights out- (was) etc.
He takes the money out if you have a little scratch, charges you for punctures... Luckily enough I was with a driver who told me the truth but was told to sell me the job, most of the driver pull there cards to get back and some even borrow the bosses card to extend their drive, one driver even takes Charlie to stay awake... Friday I told him to stick it.

I have another interview today but I have already applied to rejoin the police... But we will see how today goes..
Thanks for the offer TLP but the wife won't move North
I'll keep you updated.

Sorry to hear that Holmsey. It's worrying (though not surprising) to hear this goes on. Hopefully you find a role that you're happy with soon.
Good luck rejoining the police. I seem to remember it wasn't a happy place for you before you left, so hope it works out for you if you do return  :thumb:

I assume you've applied for undercover work since you now have relevant experience.

Cheers, I wasn't happy because I let the politics get to me, if I do go back I'll just have to ignore it... Hopefully I've just had 2 bad experiences on the trot but I'll keep looking.
