It's the first bike since the CRF1000 was launched that I am actually excited about.
Hopefully it doesn't disapoint like the CRF did.

Though the auther of that article needs to proof read his work and his editor seems to be a moron for letting the follwoing pass... that or the handling is going to be interesting.
upside down fork, while wheels are likely to be 18” at the front and 21” at the rear.

21&18inch wheels is an Interesting choice as 99% of them sold will be ridden on the road ..

I hope they do better than two pot sliding caliper front brakes also that the upside down forks are not just a cheap gimmick. I dare say the seat will be too high for me anyhow so the 690 can sleep easy tonight.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

Is it me or is the front end looking more GS like?

If it isn't a V-twin, it isn't a V-Strom...

In side profile the new 'T-Strom' looks a lot like the old DR750/DR800 single cylinder thumper's of the late 80's early 90's. Well, to me anyway...
It's pronounced 'twenty-one-twelve'

Why the "no thanks" so quickly?
The engine for instance was probably always going to change in configuration, just look at the competition. If it does end up being a parallel twin then the firing sequence may be set to mimic a V.
As for looks, well, we don't really know how it will look.
Just curious.

I guess the V-Twin is a very evocative engine configuration, some (me included) are so enamoured of them that it's the first thing they look for.
That being said, the new 853 twin in the GS has a lovely feel and sound from the 270 firing order and manages to remain pretty narrow.
I know it's daft but I would still go for a V-Twin as my first requirement on a new bike though, which is why I'm not changing the old one :)

Hopefully there will be two versions,  this larger spoke wheel model and a more road focused cast wheel model with the normal  19-17 wheels.
Does look like the DrBig which was a sales disaster when it came out, while in the UK anyway but then we're all much older now!  I'll be interested if there's  a touring model, ie cast wheels, nice seat etc. I'll not be interested if it's like the Yamaha T7.

I don’t understand the issue with a parallel twin. If it has the 270 degree firing order to mimic the V you get the same feel but with much simpler and cheaper servicing. Makes complete sense to me.

Why the "no thanks" so quickly?

For me it would "spoil" everything that the V-strom means to me. The engine character of the 650 makes me smile every time I ride it whereas I've had difficulty getting along with the parallel twins I've owned (apart from the Super tenere). The change to the wheel size (although could be an option only for "off road") also would mean that the bike would be going away from what I use it for, mainly road riding and touring.

The spyshots from the article really make the bike (in my opinion) look more like a generic brand to fit in that segment, Ie an attempt at a tamer T7 or KTM790 range.

Probably be a cracking bike, just not for me :)

 :thumb: for the clarification.
I do hope Suzuki attempt to keep its loyal VStrom following happy, so I'm sure the parallel twin will be set up accordingly. I'm new to the VStrom but can see why it grows on folk. I also think there will be a more road friendly version but I spose we will have to wait and see. I personally have no intention to ride off road, been there, got the bumps to show for it, but there are few bikes out there that can cater for two up touring in this present type of package.

"The shots also reveal updated suspension with an upside down fork, while wheels are likely to be 18” at the front and 21” at the rear."

18 front 21 rear? that would be interesting :)

I thought they might have at least gone to 750cc in this new version, I suppose/hope it will be around the 80hp mark, a cast wheel 19-17 option has to be there too you'd imagine, as it is now with the xt and standard versions for spoke/cast.
tft dash and hopefully it will have cruise control. should be interesting.
