Fuel leak.
« on: August 12, 2022, 17:33:08 »
Haven't ridden my Wee for afew weeks....started it to find fairly big pool of petrol on garage floor. Leak traced back to the short link hose that goes between throttle bodies. Replaced it.Now OK.  Just incase it helps anyone.

Well done. Nice to not have folks pondering an enigma.  :thumb:
So how's it going so far then?

Seems to be a fairly common problem on the V-Strom. It's been reported on the forum a number of times.

Do you have a part number for the hose or is it just a generic piece of petrol tubing?
TIA

The hose isn't available separately I don't believe, it's sold as an entire assembly and costs rather a lot. Plenty of people have replaced with fuel hose and injector grade clamps, don't know the Id/od of the fuel pipe needed though I'm afraid, maybe the op can help there.
Also, don't know if the op managed the job with the fuel rails left in place but removing them risks disturbing the fuel injector ORing seals which are also not sold separately. My fuel pipe was replaced under warranty and they ended up giving me a new injector as well since they buggered the ORing.

The hose is 8mm I/s diameter 15mm o/s diameter, ebay number 142385890358 fuel injection rated 200psi SAEJ30R6.   The clamps are 13-15mm Stainless Hose clips ebay number 193045080527. Got both from same supplier.    Hope this helps.  Total cost of fix £8.30.

No problem, glad to help. I didn't remove the injector rail....the hose will go on,just make sure you warm the hose with hairdryer first and put clamps on hose BEFORE you install it,and don't over tighten clamps. When the clamp just starts to nip the hose I gave it 2 full turns with socket but I'm no expert.
Just felt and looked right.
