Running in a new DL1050
« on: July 10, 2021, 21:04:15 »
Hello

Just wondering what the maximum revs were for the first 600 miles ?

My normal method is to vary revs and try to keep of motorways ( constant speeds )  etc , but not sure what recommended max revs are when running in ?

Cheers Steve

The handbook gives you the break in speeds, it’s about 4500 revs for the first 600 then building it up slowly to full revs at 1000 miles. Just finished running mine in and even at the lower revs it still has a decent turn of speed so no great chore🙂

Keeping the rpm below 5k for the first 5-600miles is the norm, after that, you can raise the rpm in increments up to around 1200miles.

Chief trouble maker 🙂

Keeping the revs down won't be a problem coming from a NC750

Thanks for your replies

Hi Steve
Congrats on the up coming purchase, x 2 on not getting any younger!!
Just checked the handbook below 4500rpm for first 500 miles then below 6000rpm till 1000miles, its on page 1-13 of the handbook. You can set the white dash light to flash at the recommended rpm, on quick overtakes I found I was above 4500 rpm at times. Make sure you set the correct date I forgot and after the first 600 mile service I set the correct date and the spanner symbol came on and I had to take it back to have it reset, what a spanner!!.
Safe riding.
