I may not be normal... yesterday, I had a cup of tea, went to the garage and stared at the bike all day! I would point out that I do normally ride it, just not yesterday!

Hi blokes I went out on Thurday 7th test newly aquired Wee strom . did 200 miles wow what a bike it seemed a lit lacky at first but that's because I've come down from a 1000cc v-twin. but after short while & learnt to rev her all was good again. Handled brilliantly in the twisties. Landed OK after the odd lift in the road :shy:  :shy: . very impressed with my new bike. Possibly need to up the front sprocket to a 16 tooth for the m/way work ?? not sure yet. Doe's anybody know which bike the 16tooth is off that fits the Wee strom ??.

Cheers John

I just found mine on ebay. Fits a V-strom, SV650 & a few other Suzukis (can't remember them all, possibly GSX-R600). Just search on Ebay "Suzuki 16 tooth front sprocket" :thumb:

Edit: just found the one I bought. Ebay number 350079993905.
It says for SV650 but fits a V-strom. E-mail the seller to double check first. (that's what I did)

Had a nice ride out with the neighbour and his cousin. The neigbour has a TDM 850 and his cousin is on a VTR 1000. We ended up at the Midlands Superbike Centre and I finally found some good RST textiles that will take me through the winter. I couldn't buy them since I didn't have the space, but I will order them online.

ADV.john, consider going 2 teeth down on the rear rather than 1 up on the front. Standard is 15/47. If you use a 16 on the front it means every 4 rotations of the chain the same teeth on the front sprocket hit the same place on the chain. With the standard 15 on the front it's every 15th rotation and this is much better for the chain and sprocket in terms of wear. 2 teeth down on the back gives you a 15/45 and this is still an optimal configuration. You can play around on http://www.gearingcommander.com if you like. The chain wear stats is at the very bottom of the page. You can load the Suzuki V-Strom 650 2004 template, the gearing is the same as the newer Wee IIRC.

ps. I run a 15/45, most of my miles are motorway and I didn't notice any significant loss in acceleration/power. I don't mean to hijack this thead, just a "quick" answer to help :)

My mate Andy came over yesterday to diagnose the fault with the bike [ sounded terminal ] .........
Seems I've been very unlucky , and the clutch and gearbox are TOAST  :bawl:  :bawl:  :bawl:  :bawl:  :bawl:

With the MOT due next month , I'll SORN the bike for the moment as these parts won't be cheap .

So the bike is currently sat with a wooden block supporting the back , as the rear wheel , shaft and exhaust have been removed .
We also drained the petrol out as it's likely to be a while before it'll get fixed - put the petrol in the wife's car .

Not a happy bunny as I've got no bike to ride  :violin:  :violin:

Brightona yesterday at dark o clock! marshalling the event with the Legion Riders all went very well, one or two complete tossers to upset the day but all in all worth doing.went for a ride out with local plod and about 40 riders from H.O.G to pick up the mayor of brighton and his family, ended up as back marker with the mayors son ,Lee on the back. Beautifull warm sunny day by seaside!

On Sunday, wheeled it out of the garage, gave it a darn good clean & polish, took it round the block and put it to bed. Then it went dark, so I went to bed.

Monday a.m. rode to North Shields ferry terminal to meet up with Andreas and Sandra from germany, show them how to ride on the left, newcastle quayside etc. Lovely bloke and his lass going for their holiday in Scotland. Was going to ride with them further but lost them in newcastle centre - searched for them, but found out later they had succumbed to insistent sat-nav urgings which disagreed with my route through the toon! Alls well that ends well!
But I did have a blast looking for them through the town centre - I hadn't realised how good the strom is at that !  :)))

Monday 7.30am ferry from belfast to stranraer.

A run down the M6 to kendal then in and around the lake district in great weather.  Stopped in Keswick for a while then headed up to penrith for food.  Then I got a text message saying the 11.30pm ferry was cancelled and the next one was 3.30am.  Arrived home at 7:00am and straight to bed.  400 miles and great fun!!!!!!!!!  Still bloody wrecked though. :auto-dirtbike:

Collected matching pannier locks for my GT (why does Suzuki supply 3 cases with two differnt key locks?),
from West London Superbikes. Wife and I then rode to Henley for a walk by the Thames, feeding the ducks, then back home for homemade stew & dumplins and take panniers apart to fit locks.

After a trip to Southport with ADV.John I've discovered that the clocks on my 02 Vee are rubbish!!

Never even thought about it before, but in the dark I simply can't see the display clearly enough to get any usefull info off them.

I noticed Johns 10 Wee has much bigger clearer clocks.

does anyone know if the fittings/wiring is the same ?

at trip to ebay might be required if they are.
