On the Suzuki Facebook page someone just put this on. Seems like it may help…..
“Well chuffed - gear indicator working again!
Waiting for the rain to stop, I decided to see if I could figure out why the gear indicator on my 2013 DL650 did not show anymore or was very intermittent.
Googling and YouTube did not turn up a lot, but I did find one YouTube video in Spanish (I did not understand a word, but video made sense).
So I went in to take a look / see if I could solve it (as a replacement sensor is something like £130).
Whipped off the sprocket cover (3x 4mm Allen screws) and then unscrewed the sensor (use a good quality 4mm Allen key for this as the two screws have thread lock on and were tight until started off - the one in the toolkit actually seems OK for this).
I used a spray contact cleaner rather than wd40 used in the video and spun the sensor wheel back and forth / round and round several times, cleaning out anything in there with the contact cleaner every few turns.
Put it all back together (note there is an o-ring between the sensor and casing so don’t lose that). I decided not to use any new thread locker as it seemed to go back quite secure and I wanted to be able to open it up easily again if required in the future.
Gear indicator now works perfectly again and cost me literally nothing. 😊
I hope this may help someone else if they experience the same problem”
