Glee front forks
« on: March 26, 2021, 08:44:37 »
Bit of advice please, got my Glee yesterday and loving it, rides great and can just about get my feet down OK. My question is,the previous owner was a much bigger bloke, and I've noticed the pre-load on forks is on max- mark five. Owners book says standard is mark 3, and to turn anti clock to soften. What tool do you use in the slot to turn em , and do you need to slacken to fork clamp? thanks in advance.

Hello Peaky,if it’s the same as mine a 2012 model or earlier, just use a flat bladed screwdriver and you do not have to slacken the clamps, mine is set at 3 lines showing.
I also set the rear to 2 lines showing as I have found these are the most comfortable settings for me.
When you say yours is set to “max mark 5”, does that mean you can see 5 lines ?,if so that is set to minimum preload.
Also did you see my post about me having a pair of lowering links that you can try as I live fairly close to you.

Yeh I can see 5 lines Ian , thought that was hardest setting as owners handbook is a bit vague. Saw your post about dog bones thanks, but going to give it a couple of weeks and see how I get on. Mines a 2014 bike. Feels huge after 18 years on a 6oo Fazer, but once your moving, rides lovely, corners well, and slow speed handling is excellent! All we need now is lockdown to ease and some good weather! As your not far away, maybe get to meet up before to long. I'm In Ilkeston.

The Yondermann will be open again soon, Ian and Peaky.  I suppose we will have to invite the chief breakfast tester too!

Certainly looking forward to getting back on the roads & making a visit to the Yonderman (plus a few other cafes/cake shops/ice cream sellers etc.
However I'm thinking of choosing my routes carefully for a week or two because every man and his dog/motor home/caravan etc will be on the roads and I can see those in Derbyshire being as busy as anywhere........not my idea of fun.
Having said that, I do get a few days off midweek now and again  so I'm hoping they might not be as busy.

Shameless thread hijack Mick. :violence-smack:

WE ALL KNOW YOU ARE RETIRED AND HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO WITH YOUR TIME.

Rant over. :)
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

 :smirk:

Just what we need. :)

The Peaks, The Dales and the seaside will be mental and not very pleasant. I shall be heading to the North Pennines and Lincolnshire in equal measure.

Apologies for the hijack.

Went for a cuppa today to a mates house who lives quite near Josh, a couple of posts previous Mick was saying that the Peaks would be busy, every leisure place today was solid,I even had to queue to get PAST Elvaston Castle entrance as they were queueing from both directions to get in.

Popping down to Loughborough on Sunday, definitely sticking to back lanes on the East side of the motorway.
Might come home in the evening via the A6 just to see if there's anything left of Matlock  :icon_no:
