« on: February 28, 2021, 22:48:23 »
Hi all , can anyone tell me what the standard battery specs are for a 2017 DL1000 , e.g cca’s and ah’s , not had the bike long and don’t think the battery is standard .

Thanks

What is the battery model on your L7?  If it is the same as the L6, then the battery will be a Yuasa YTX14H-BS with a capacity pf 20hr 12.6 Ah and a CCA (EN) of 200 Amps. https://www.yuasa.co.uk/ytx14-bs.html

Fowlers don't list the most recent models but I'd be very surprised if it wasn't a YTX14-BS as all the DL1000's models and most of Suzuki's larger capacity bikes use that fitment.

Suzuki as standard supply either Yuasa meaning a YTX or a GS battery that will be a GTX14-BS.

Other battery models will fit the bike, some won't have the ccA.
But the YTX14-BS will be supplied by Suzuki 'dry' with an acid pack that the dealer will prepare when the bike is sold or becomes shop demo.
Check the date on the battery, sometimes on the bottom, if you really want to know it's age.

That however doesn't mean it was prepared at that date or that the dealer hasn't mixed up the batteries from various bikes. As the batteries are usually store in the stock room away from the bikes (and the sales blokes who should never be allowed to touch batteries).
In the dealers I worked in we kept batteries that belonged to new bikes on a shelf labeled with the stock number of the bike and the VIN so the correct battery made it's way to the bike.

Also, the bike is around 4 years old now and new batteries, even Yuasa ones only carry a years guarantee and 2 years warranty for manufacturing faults. So it's entirely plausible the original battery gave up the ghost.

I'm my listings a 2017 model is YTZ14S .. 11.8ah , 230cca

A 2016 model is a YTX14BS, 12.6ah , 240cca .

Both batteries would work in either model ..

Where did you find that reference?

I could only find up to 2016.

The YTZ is the higher cca but is also not as tall. There may not be the hight for the YTX on 17> models. Unless someone can confirm one is in their 17> bike???

According to the manual

L4-L6 it requires a 12v 43.2kC (12Ah)/10HR battery

L7-L8 changed to 12v 40.3kC (11.2Ah)/10HR Battery
Ours is not to reason why, ours is but to do or die.
