Standard 1050XT lower engine bar fitting onto 1050A model.
« on: February 28, 2021, 15:17:40 »
Today I fitted the lower Suzuki engine bar that comes as standard on the XT model, onto my 1050A model. Everything lined up and went on, but I have no frame mounting point for the nearside, lower bar mount (this is near to, and underneath the side stand switch). The crash bar section with mounting hole appears to be around 3" too short, and is in mid air, with nothing behind it to attach to - the two top mounts and lower mount on off side lined up and went together perfectly. A bit of a mystery - maybe The Suzuki engine bar available as an extra for the A model , is slightly different to the XT bar I have ? I may end up making a tie rod at work to bridge the gap to the nearest frame fixing point near the gearchange linkage. Would be great if someone could provide a pic of the left side lower crash bar mount on their XT model so I can determine the difference !

Your second set of pix helps for better understanding. Not sure, but is appears that you may have mounting bracket missing? I would have a guess that Suzuki would have saved on production costs, by using the same physical engine casing for both models. Perhaps kind soul with an XT model, is willing to snap a pix of their setup?

Hi , on the XT the bracket is a 3 bolt casting holding the crash bar and the side stand.
