Air Filter
« on: February 08, 2021, 17:28:02 »
Does anyone know it the air filter for a 2012 650 (1378027G10) comes with the rubber gasket?
Also any ideas for cleaning the air filter breather sponge - or if replacing it, should it be lightly oiled. Has anyone used anything other than the oem replacement (1378811J00). Thanks

Looks like it's a separate item according to Robinsons.....@ another £23
Have you got the correct part number for the breather sponge, it's different on this site?

All of the wee and glee filters I have ever seen have the seal as part of the filter.I have recently changed the filter on my new to me L2 glee and it is the same one as my old K9 model. You don’t have to buy a new filter if you have access to an airline.Just wash the filter with biological washing powder in a small bowl using a soft brush, rinse it out with plenty of water and blow it out in the reverse direction to the airflow,or leave it to dry for a couple of days.Don’t buy a Suzuki filter as they are ridiculous money,I use a Hiflo HFA361 that I bought on line, and it works great.I have a spare so just change it every year and clean the old one, then put it back in the box until the next time.
Just squeeze any old oil out of the breather sponge and blast it with brake cleaner or similar, and wipe out the housing that it sits in,it has oil passing through it from the engine so doesn’t need any more oil on it.

Thanks for your help and advice. Just out of interest I've done a little digging, and it seems that the air filter and gasket part numbers changed in 2007. The non ABS 2006 model on the MSP parts web site shows the filter as 1378006G00, and the gasket as 1374606G00. Found a UK site selling the OEM filter for £24, but think I'll go for the HiFlo at around £15. Cheers

You should get a HiFlo for under a tenner. Here in more expensive France they're less than 10€.
So how's it going so far then?

Ianmc. It was a local bike shop called Integral Moto at Bains-sur-Oust near to me. They were a 'moto' shop when we first came here but moved over to quads in the past decade. They just sold what was in stock, no online/mail order stuff. Unfortunately they fell to the drop in business due to Covid last year.

Now it's either Wemoto at 20€ or OEM at ouch€. Like you I do use a friends air 'souflette' for minor services

£14-15 delivered off ebay seems a good deal.

As oslin says there are some extras to pay and delays on some goods ordered from Europe in general, not France and Germany only, bound for the UK. One of the results of leaving the Single Market and Customs Union for you.
So how's it going so far then?
