charging problems
« on: January 10, 2021, 16:23:47 »
pre xmas after my last ride the next day my battery was dead, reading (0.005) on the multi meter, so like you do I bought a new one.Ivr trickle charged it every weekend over the last four weeks to keep on top of it. Went for a quick ride yesterday to blow away the cobwebs, today dead battery again :icon_no: could it be rectifier problems???  can't check it as the batterys dead!!! :groan:

Do you have any auxiliary items on your bike like a USB charger ..?
Your DL250 shouldn't have regulator issues at its current age but it's not unheard of , how old is it and how many miles have you covered ?

the bike is 21 months old ,no electrical accessories.  Still under warranty, bit no chance of getting it in a Suzuki workshop atm. Its only done 900 miles. 2 batterys fried, I'm leaning towards rectifier.

Just a thought :-) Do you leave it with the steering lock on? Its only a smidge from the "Park" position.

Charge your battery , fit it as normal but unplug your regulator.

If your battery stays charged then you'll know for definite.

Doesn't matter if a dealer can't fit you in, as long as you report the problem within your warranty period you should be fine ..

If you fitted the newly charged battery, then sometime later went to start the bike I'd not expect it to the the rectifier at fault. Either the battery isn't connected properly (DAMHIK) or there's a parasitic drain.

I'd try fully charging the first and second dead batteries off the bike and give them a few days and see what they show voltage wise.
