Help please
« on: November 30, 2020, 20:37:41 »
Hi all, I have a 2008 DL1000 and I will be replacing the drive shaft oil seal soon. Now apparently on the back of the oil seal retaining plate, there is an o ring. I am having problems sourcing this part, could anyone please give me a heads up of a good online supplier

Ta  muchly  :)

I can see an o ring listed in front of the plate but not behind on the fiche.
This site is really good for research and postage is not criminal but small orders can work out cheaper from places like Fowler's. I usually use MSP to find part codes and then Google for UK results.

Thank you, on my diagram the front sprocket spacer appears on the other side of the retaining plate. Which in retrospect is silly and you are ccorrect. I'm all sorted now cheers

In reality the O-ring will be behind the retaining plate, between the spacer and the bearing. It looks to me as if it is to stop oil migrating along the shaft below the spacer. To save yourself a few quid, once the O-ring is in your hand, take it to your nearest bearing/Seal/O-ring specialist and get him to measure it and supply one.You could do the same with the oil seal and not pay Suzuki dealers exorbitant prices.

Hello Inmac this is the westcountry , the only seal specialists we have work in Paignton zoo. With the vast range of prices I've seen for the same product, you're never quite sure of the quality.
