Hi

I’m trying to fix this issue with a 2007 DL650.
The engine won't start...

Display mentions CHEC when powering up.
The previous owner sold it for following reason :
He forgot his keys (including alarm remote control) in his pants when washing ( this what he told to the dealer...)
Dealer removed the OEM alarm and wire loom, but since then it does not start. That is when I bought it...

I have the impression that the engine is OK, but that a wiring issue prevents the communication with the ECU or so?
The fuel pump does nothing when I turn the key, although it’s not broken ( tested with 12 volt and it pumps!)

I installed a new battery but of course this does not solve anything.
The OEM alarm was plugged in under the passenger saddle, with 3 plugs and without modification of the wires...
Tried to reinstall the wire loom and Oem alarm: no change.
Question: could it be that the alarm wasn’t correctly removed?
Did not find any mention of the OEM alarm in the wiring diagram.

Any help is welcome!

In all honesty I have never heard of anyone selling a bike because he washed his keys.
Or a dealer buying such a bike and selling it on in that state.

It has almost 95.000 km, its rusty and worn.
And of course the price was low.
But it should still be rideable, as it appears complete and without accident?
Otherwise I need to sell it for parts.

Do the keys have the transponder fitted to disarm the immobiliser?

Did the bike come with a V5?

I have checked the remote and the batteries are 2.7 volt instead of 3...
What is a V5?

A V5 is a UK Registration Document and as you are in Brussels then that doesn't matter.

I'd say someone has made a bad job of removing the alarm.

I maybe wrong here but I don't recall seeing a plug and play alarm on any Suzuki ..? The only manufacturers I know that has does this are BMW and Triumph.
Obviously it depends which make/model alarm it is but if it's a datatool it should have been hard wired into the loom with no plugs.
If it's another model alarm which has a plug and play facility and it's been unplugged the circuit isn't complete, hence why you are unable to start the bike.

I could be wrong but that's my take on it ..

CHEC on display = one of these.....
kill switch, side stand switch, ignition fuse, low voltage/no voltage from ECM to display
There was another thread last week regarding this and the cause was a 'tracker' wired to the fuel pump.

I tried to figure out where the alarm was initially based on the connectors. 2 of the connectors found their initial spot.

Apparently the original cable has provision for an optional alarm.
You have to remove a connector cap to click in the alarm - and of course put it back when removing the alarm

This type of connector seems to do the trick

@Moderator: please remove the post if it is not apropriate to document removing an alarm

The key fob denotes META systems.
They used to make plug and play alarm systems for various bikes.

You're better off without it. Meta and datatool alaram have a habit of being absolutely perfect until they fail and You're stuck in the middle of nowhere with a bike that didn't start.

I'd personally walk away from a bike with an alarm fitted. Luckily your bike has a plug and play one.

My XJ600n came with an alarm but it was one of the cheap £20 ones that never work when they should and just piss off your neighbours.
Luckily it easy to remove in 2 min as the fitter only took a live and switched feed and never wired it in to anything else.

My last bike had a datatool system, it made the bike super secure by ensuring the battery was first every time I wanted to ride it 😂.
Glad you got it sorted so easily, never knew what the plugs under the tail were for.
