Well go to bloody hell! Wuyang here.....my initial joining of the group went wrong so now under the name short straw. I’m on here considering buying a 650! Fancied one for years, although they do look a bit heavy they seem to get cracking reviews...and I love v twins.

It's not too bad, far better than a couple of sports bikes I've had. Only done a maximum of about 50 miles in one stint but no problems. Hope this helps

hi Wuyang,
thanks all. I recon it will be OK, I'm a lover of small cc bikes these days.

Ask your local Suzuki dealer for a test ride and take her along to test it too. Even if they don't allow passengers on tests they won't object to her having a "sit" on it.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

All I can say is the 650 is fine for my wife and I have never has a test ride turned down because I wish to carry a pillion and I have tested a few over the years, and if anybody did I go and shop somewhere else.

Likewise - I've always taken the wife on the back when test riding bikes that she might ride on. Never had any issues with dealers. It's the only way you'll be sure she'll find it comfy.
Personally, I'd be surprised if the 250 has enough oomph for carrying a pillion with any sense of riding satisfaction. If the 650 is too big for your needs, (it is a heavy old lump), maybe think about a CB500X, KTM 390 Adventure or a Himalayan? The Tracer 700 is also a fair bit lighter than the V Strom - and is roomy enough for a pillion to sit in comfort.

I'm intrigued by the 250 & was seriously considering trying it for 1 person touring but for 2 up, although the comfort would probably be fine I just can't see it having enough power. The 650 isn't a great deal bigger/heavier in reality, why not give one a go, I bet your wife would love being on the back of one, loads of space, really good grab handles...

Hello, I have a 250, frankly solo it's a very comfortable bike. As a duo, the bike is comfortable, if there is a top case, the saddle is not very short. Compared to an SH300 scooter, the comfort is much better. It's just a shame that the engine runs so fast ... Otherwise it's really a very nice bike for getting around on a daily basis, or making trips on small roads. Clearly not made for highways. In any case I do not regret my choice in addition to a CRF1000 ;-)
