1050 Vstrom Recall!
« on: September 22, 2020, 19:19:15 »
Hi all, bought an ex demo DL 1050 Vstrom got the V5C posted to home and thought I would give it a glance over. Under Version it says EURO 4/L3. Mmm, I thought these were supposed to be EURO 5 now? Did a bit of digging around, then I thought I’d call Suzuki customer services and ask them what the scoop was. They called back a few days later and said my model has a logbook recall on it! DVLA are aware, do nothing, DVLA will issue a new one when they get around to it (Covid hold ups etc) with the correct EURO 5 annotated. So there you have it. I wonder who else has been affected by the same thing?

Hi, I noted this on my V5 and informed Suzuki Uk who were unaware up to my telephone call. (they have offered me a free hoody for my help. I also contacted the DVLA who asked me to send back my V5 with a covering letter and proof of the Euro 5 compliance . I sent a copy of the certificate of conformity which shows Euro 5. I should have kept a copy of my V5 as I want to sorn it from October. The DVLA say that they can do this over the phone for me as getting a replacement V5 could take months due to CV. They say that their backlog are currently dealing with issues dating back to April.

Just be careful,  your bike may not run the same once they've corrected the v5...
Old enough to know better, but still too young to care...

Apparently there are a batch of DL1050’s registered over a particular time period with incorrect documentation, however this is currently being addressed by Suzuki UK and the DVLA. It’s not however an issue, as the homologation requirements under Euro 5 have already been met for the bike in question.
Any affected motorcycles can expect to be issued with a new V5C in due course.
So then, all is well.
So far...

My V5 just came back with the wrong Euro rating as well. FFS. Back to DVHELLA it goes.
If it has two wheels.. I'll ride it.

This is a Suzuki UK problem as they are the ones who provide the detail to DVLA for the first registration.

In the world of Cars, Trucks, Vans and Motorcycles this sort of mess up is not uncommon.

Received today after 2 months , a new V5 with the correct Euro 5 . Also a separate letter from the DVLA and Suzuki explaining the error.
