Warranty Question
« on: April 17, 2020, 21:46:56 »
Here we go with a question, bought a new bike on 14 Mar now coming up to 600 miles to its first service, however due to this Covid 19 crap cannot get to the dealer to get it done. And its closed, so my problem is how far is it safe to go over the 600 mile service before I have to change the oil. Already spoke to the dealer and they will honour the warranty  but my concern is the new metal bits in the oil will it damage the new motor? Thank you very much and stay safe.

I wouldn't worry too much about the warranty but you could just drop the oil yourself?

Not sure what you are capable of with regards to maintenance but it's real easy to change the oil and filter yourself, that's all a 600mile service mainly entails with a general check over, there's plenty of YouTube videos.
For warranty purposes use a genuine Suzuki oil filter and decent oil then let the dealership know once they are open.

Considering the circumstances, I'm sure they'd be fine with what you've done.

Hello Pieman,

I spoke to the dealership I bought my bike from and asked a similar question at the time of purchase. I was told that as long as Suzuki approved parts are used and the garage undertaking the work is VAT registered, therefore able to provide itemised receipts for parts and the work and of course stamp the service booklet, the warranty stands.

I hope this helps. Of course you may want to check this out yourself beforehand.  :thumb:

A small company like Royal Enfield have given all owners who's warranty runs out a three month extension till its sorted .I am sure bigger companies can do the same  ?
