My take on the 250 vstrom
« on: March 02, 2020, 17:34:01 »
I bought a 250 vstrom ,as I wanted a lighter bike as my other bikes were over 200kg,  have a good tank range, and not too complicated ,finding the engine would struggle at motorway speeds, it was okay at 65mph ,but 70 was pushing it ,  softer much research , I opted to put a smaller rear sprocket  on , the difference was brilliant , the bike can cruise at 70mph ,top speed  about 82mph.I also added barkbusters fabric  handguards which are fantastic

Yes what a lot of people forget is that nearly all bikes are geared  to take a pillion , so if you don't carry one gearing up is a good way to go .. :thumb:

Did you test any other bikes in the 250/ 300 category or go straight for the v?

I test rode a GS 310 not so long ago. Nice enough bike, lacks refinement and you have to rev the nuts off of it to get anywhere. It was comfortable up to 75 and would get up to 85/90 if you pushed it.

I didn't try any other bike , like the BMW  310 or Kawasaki 300 ,as seats were too high for me ,couldn't touch floor,  the v Strom is more practical for me as I ride to work everyday
