2010 650 stalling
« on: August 30, 2019, 10:51:30 »
My 2010 (L0) 650 has begun stalling.  It starts and idles but once riding tends to idle too low and occasionally stall.  Cold and warm.  Typical time is when entering a roundabout or approaching traffic in second or third under engine braking, then pulling in the clutch to stop - it stalls.  Starts easily with one prod of the starter and then may idle OK.

Any ideas?  Is it an easy fix (bearing in mind I am far more familiar with carbs than injectors)

Cheers

Throttle Position Sensor would be my first guess.

My 650k7 had exactly the same symptoms. New TPS cured it,around £85 for a new one.
You can check them with a meter but its not always easy to spot the spikes in the readings.
Good news is its easy to fit,you will need to put the bike into dealer mode to set it up.
It's a subject that's been covered several times before so a quick search should give you the info you need.

For some info on a TPS, https://www.sportbikes.net/forums/fz6-fz6r/7320-throttle-position-sensor-issues-you-experiencing-poor-idle-mileage-stalls-25.html#post2105110 post #366 - #368. The complete thread is interesting, if one has the time.

Let us know how it works out. Remember that the thread on security torx screws (used to hold the TPS in place) are very soft and damage easily, so don't over tighten.
