DL1000 high pitch engine noise
« on: August 09, 2019, 10:24:23 »
Hello all,

My 18 plate v-strom started making a high pitch ticking noise! Not sure if it is something I should worry about. The second service (7500 miles one) due soon but I was hopeing you blokes can give me some sort of idea what it could be. It seems like once the engine warmed up it is starting to make this high pitch tick tick tick noise. On the video it is present on the background but it is much louder in real life. ( )

Also if anyone could recommend a Suzuki Service around London where I should service the bike it would be highly appreciated!

Can't hear anything out of the ordinary. I have found mine runs and sounds better if I use primium petrol and not the cheap supermarket stuff.
It could just be an effect of the really hot weather at the moment.

Asmith61 thank you, it has to be an official Suzuki service to keep the Warranty.

Thanks bako , I only fill at Shell the regular 95

Sounds normal to me ...  .

If you like, pop it by my shop In Essex road I will have a listen. It won't void your warranty.

I hear what you mean - wouldn't worry me per se and I've quite a few mile on these engines. They do make a bit on noise here and there.

The bike seems to be on quite a fast idle, is it there when she's warmed up, clutch in?

If it has two wheels.. I'll ride it.

Thank you very much kwackboy, if you send me the address I will try to pop in next week.
Just for the peace of mind, I don't want the Suzuki service charge me for something is doesn't need changing....

Infield: the engine was fairly warmed up (after 8-9 miles riding), clutch out (in natural)

Bake might had a good point about the hot weather, today the sound was barely noticeable.
