A bit more playing around while the tank is bubbling away nicely. I pulled the Rad off and was interested to see that the pesky connectors we all know and love were a bit grubby but nothing that would be considered corrosion. I gave them all a good clean and hopefully they will be good for a few years.

There are new cobwebs all over the bike today

I am trying to get bits done each day but work stops play

I drained the vinegar from the tank, it had been in there doing its work for more than 24 hours. Then three tanks full of a bicarb mix to neutralise the acid from the vinegar.

It came up well. I was considering sealing the inside with Petseal but it is in much better condition than I expected with no flaking rust.;

The inside of the tank looks great for all the years it as been stood, how is the pump? great to see it coming along.

With the tank now clean, I set about stripping the fuel pump assembly.

I think it's fair to say this was overdue.

And breaking news!

After cleaning the filter assembly and fitting a new filter, I reassembled it back into the tank and fitted it to the bike.

I then added petrol.

I then turned on the ignition, and for the first time heard the bike turn over. No nasty noises, all sounds well.

But...

She wouldn't start.

There is a healthy spark but I don't think fuel is getting through. I will have to take the tank off again and remove the filter assembly to see if I have done anything daft. The battery is flat now so I may leave it until tomorrow.
