Finally collected my bike
« on: May 27, 2019, 01:15:39 »
After purchasing my bike over a month ago I eventually found the time to collect it yesterday. I hadn’t ridden it before buying, in fact I had ridden for over 35 years........
So a baptism of fire, the salesman gave me a cursory overview of which switches did what (wasn’t really taking it in), a few bikers were standing around outside the dealer and they begin to start watching man collecting new bike.
Straddle it, punch the starter, and prey to God I don’t stall or drop the damn thing......
Safely away, and out onto the M25 and some 80 or so miles later I’m home the old skills gradually returning, what a bike!

Brilliant.

I am so chuffed for you. You don't appear to have forgotten the art of the centre stand.  :thumb:

Enjoy. :)
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

I couldn’t actually find one with a centre stand, that’s an extra I paid for together with the crash bars and mirror extenders. It was the dealers ex demo bike it’s covered about 350 miles in two years!
It’s replacement was parked alongside it in the showroom (blue and white) but thousands of pounds more. I always try and buy ex demo vehicles for cash and drive a bargain home  :thumb:

I bet it's a revelation after all these years with a modern bike, and a lovely v twin at that!
Gently does it as the skills return, and new ones are learnt.

I’ve never ridden a V twin before, the engine braking is fierce so that’s something I need to master took me by surprise if I’m being honest.
And for a while I kept looking up into the sky...........for the rear view mirror lol.
But in comparison to my old bikes they’ve changed a lot, but that feeling of freedom it’s just the same

Well done Stormy. It must have been daunting to throw your leg over a bike after such a long break.
Keep your knees in he breeze and sunny side up.  :thumb:
