Help to lower the bike
« on: May 24, 2019, 09:32:17 »
Hi all !!
I don´t know if you´ve already discussed this issue of the V-Strom 650 XT.

I am 1,71 cm tall and having problems with the seat height to hold the bike with the tip of my feet.

I want to lower the bike  to be able to step flat feet as much as possible using special adaptors (I think they are called links or dog bones in English).

But I am not sure how many cm do I need to lower or if I have to do anything else on the bike.

Did any of you have the same problem?

Thanks

Have you thought about trying a lowerset?
Installing shorter dog bones will make it more difficult to get the bike on the centre stand, and may alter the way the bike sits on the side stand.
If you do lower the rear you will also need to lower the forks in the yokes to maintain the correct gyomatry. Lust racing give all the details in their fitting instructions.

I suggest that you make use of the search function and use the wording lowering links. There is a lot of info on the subject, for example https://www.v-strom.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=34769.msg347714#msg347714, https://www.v-strom.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=34394.msg343191#msg343191, https://www.v-strom.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=35967.msg362038#msg362038 and many more.
Raising the forks in the yokes / triple-tree, does not cost you anything but time. You may find this sufficient. The steering will turn quicker. Remember to support the engine with a jack before you attempt to raise the forks.
Report back on which route that you decided to follow and how it works for you.

Yes but lower seats have less foam and its more pain in the bottom after long rides, I am trying  to lower the bike without touching the seat if possible.

Thanks
