ULEZ and DL1000 2005
« on: March 12, 2019, 11:01:43 »
Hello. When I checked ULEZ website my KLV1000 is subject to ulez but I know it is euro3 compliant. So today a emailed Kawasaki and that is the response I've got.

Good morning Piotr

Thank you for your email. We can confirm that your machine which you have supplied information below on is  Euro3 and therefore we can supply a Certificate of Conformity. Please email a photo or scan copy of page 2 showing your and the machines details, we will then post out the COC for you.

Kind regards

Happy days, now only to send a scan of my V5C, get the certificate from Kwak and upload to TFL website. I believe all DL1K from 2005 up can get this exemption. (Euro 4 started 2005).

Kawasaki will even send the CoC to me for free I believe :)

That's great news  :thumb: I know lots of riders doing this, one customer with a 2002 Honda cb600f, he's done the same and got his bike exempt.
Many more need to do this in London .

This has been an on going topic on the XRV forum. The later 650cc transalp are ULEZ acceptable but you have to prove it with the COC.
Honda aren't doing it free!

Great stuff! very enterprising piotr :thumb:

Though I confess I had no clue what ULEZ was   lol Had to google it (Ultra Low Emission Zone)

It's a Lundon thing (for now).

I wonder if fitting alternative exhausts will negate the certificates. Certainly on my Bulldog with the catalytic converters built into the end can the Euro 3 or 4 compliance is in peril when the OE pipes are replaced ( as I did). I have the originals on the shelf in case I need them for MOTs. As I understand it ULEZ is heading for all major cities.

I live just inside the proposed zone and this frustrates the hell out of me, I have 2 bikes that are not complaint and due to year no data held although the same bike with same engine registered  3 years later they are able to supply the details for a COC.

One of the reasons I bought the Vstrom so I don't have to pay £12 for the privilege of leaving the house

Because there are no emission test for motorcycles TFL (ulez) are only interested in what the manufacturer's Nox levels are from new, so, if you have changed your exhaust system, removed emission control or anything else it doesn't matter.

D16PJM,
The Ulez zone starts in April which is the same as the current congestion zone (central London) and in two years time the plan is to extend the zone out to the north and south circular.
You have two years but from what I've heard once they extend the zone all within with non compliant vehicles will be given a Grace period of maybe another couple of years to change their vehicles.
What part of Sidcup are you from ?

Oh! dear Bulldog first registered 30 June 2007 and on checking with the TfL website it is on the naughty step.
Check here if you need to know yours:-

Brockett,
Does your V5 show a Nox reading ? Bottom left once you open the document.
Some don't .

I think the Ulez limit is 0.15 per km and if it's below that you are fine .

Checked online and the XT1200 is OK. My Skoda Citigo is OK too but the Mokka is a dirty diesel and a 4x4, so it's a "no" for that one. Oh well, I'll just have to avoid central London...

@ Kwackboy. No such data on my V5C
Although I have no plan to ride through or into London it will be an increasing problem as other local authorities adopt similar schemes. Air pollution is a problem that does kill people so I guess it's got to be tackled.

Pretty sure the Tinsley section of the M1 is earmarked for ULEZ. That'll be entertaining.

I don't enter London much, but my K5 DL650 (2005) is a no go... Bummer  :icon_no:

If you do what I did, it will be OK, they will exempt it. You need to get certificate of conformity from Suzuki.

Dear Piotr

Interesting topic boys, but I really don't have any intention of going into that den of inequity (hope you get the gist of that word, it confused the spellchecker.... Got the little bugger back I hope!).

Anyway if I do have to go into (spit...) London, will take the 'Kettle' and run it with the choke on...  It's classed as historical vehicle, no tax, no m.o.t etc
